the org has been trash at developing young players for going on 7 years now, and if it was fixed today, we likely wouldn't see the fruits of that labor for another couple years. while botts was originally credited as being a guy that really understood player development, his handling of mitts last season flies in the face of that

It goes back even further than that. The '05 lockout Amerks are really the last minor league team that was chock full of both "Can't miss" types and guys who may have over-achieved their way to the NHL. Nine long-term NHL forwards on that squad along with Miller in net and "all star" Rory Fitzpatrick and Patches on the blueline . And even that was probably more because of the lockout. It's been spotty since the early '90's honestly.

I'd be impressed if last year's Amerks got 7 guys total F/D/G to play more than 100 NHL games going forward. Even now, we know the likelihood that they will have to backfill for potential graduates and pending trade material (the other, other, other elephant in the room is the possibility of them dealing VO or RA this next few days).

The context was the trade for Montour, under contract and team control vs. Kane pending UFA. Please stay on topic.

We only got the 1st rounder, when Kane re-signed 7 years.

So, comparing the 1st and prospect trades is relatively equal as an end result. This isn't complicated

Plenty of rational thinking on display here boys - keep it up.

The hypocritical way that you are analysing these moves shows a clear agenda.

Attempting to compare Montour (RFA with term) to Kane (pending UFA) is laughable. You guys are better than this.

The majority of Botts moves have been positive or of little consequence. Skinner, Montour being the main two.

One major trade was a disaster.... Which JB may or may not have been completely accountable for.

Not understanding the conditions of the Kane trade, that returned the first rounder is what's laughable.

Why is Botts talking to the press now? Shouldn't you be working the phones? Screams we aren't doing anything but making 2 picks today

My god he struggles at communicating, it's always so disjointed and banal. I literally listen to him like this.

Botterill here looks like Bruce Wayne from the last part of the Nolan trilogy. He could say that Daggett Armstrong stole his fingerpints phone and made a deal with St. Louis.

yeah, I'm on WGR and it's bills talk. Also checked facebook live stream and nada.

They consistently get good ratings because in Buffalo their sports teams are everything. They won't change anything if the ratings are high. People will always tune in, despite the garbage employees running that place.

Is that true? I just assumed they paid crap and they are stuck with the stiffs that are willing to work for nothing.
