Traded Jakob Chychrun (D)

Was mulling it over this morning and I think these pairings would be killer:

Chabot - Zub
Sanderson - Hamonic
Chychrun - Brannstrom

Spread out the icetime a bit more and you literally have three excellent pairings on the ice all game long and the opposition just sits there crying.
That would be a good start. It keeps the existing pairings together.

This was Phil Kessel during the 2017 ECF when he kicked our asses:

Have said this before but shouldn’t all NHL players be jacked? They are pro athletes. They don’t need to be like DK Metcalf level but I would hope Chychrun is the average/standard.

LOL, Mrs_NyQuil was at a golf tournament here in Ottawa and Kyle Turris was there, and they got their picture together.

He looked like a gawky teenager.

He was down on the ice for awhile after colliding with the end boards fighting for a puck, skated off favouring his knee, and then stretched it out later on the ice during a break and resumed play.
I hope this isn't what we're in for every game for the next 2 years lol

This trade still feels so surreal.

Giroux and Chychrun are probably two of the best « available » players in the past few years who were great fits for this team for different reasons, and we managed to get both.

Oh how the turntables.. feels good

NHL players don't necessarily need the most jacked physique in terms of a lot of muscles mass akin to body builders, but they need to have the strength and explosive power to handle a sport like hockey. I remember Phillips, dude looked like he had a dad bod but could move on the ice in a way that was surprising at times.

And then you get Rod Brindamour who was locked out of the gym cuz he was a freak
Chris walked by me the other night and we said hello to one another

He still doesn't have a dad bod

I liked his game last night, despite the obvious rust. He really likes to activate in the O zone and push the envelope. We are going to need to learn to cover when he does that.

Not gonna be a big time rock defensively but he will be huge for possession numbers.

Also noticed him getting open and looking to get the puck in transition

I thought he was pretty solid defensively last night.

He caught up to Patrick Kane and knocked the puck off of his stick to prevent a breakaway.

Another time there was a Ranger close to the net, kind of at the side of it and a player open across the front of the net. Chychrun, being the only player back at that time, made a really nice play. He had a great position between the two players and forced the one Ranger into not having a clean shot as Talbot was quick to cover that side of the net. Then when the ranger made his pass across to the open man Chychrun just intercepted it and moved it out of the zone like it was a regular event.

He is really good with his stick and he naturally takes the proper position when defending. He is fast, strong and smart. Having not yet played a game with his teammates, let alone practice, he was still one of the best defenders on the ice in my opinion.
