He's 5th on the PK depth chart at the best this year, even Brannstrom has averaged more time on the PK this year.

He can kill penalties, he just hasn't been doing it much this year.
Do you think that's because of his injury & they are nursing it?

I think it's because we have Holden, Hamonic, Sanderson, and now Chychrun all ahead of him. He plays a lot of 5v5 with Chabot and rather than play him on the PK, we can get the top pair right back out after the penalty ends by playing other guys on the pk.

It also helps that Brannstrom has proven himself to be a sneaky good penalty killer, he might not have the traditional skillset associated with the PK but he's been very effective out there.

Watching Chychrun last night, I got Zub vibes.
He was smothering opponents carrying the puck the way Zub does so often.
He was showing a bit of rust, of course, but if can be a Zub plus offence (which we know he has) perhaps he'll be a Norris candidate at some point.

After watching Chych in a Sens uni for the first time here’s my impression; he plays a lot like a rover - similar to Karlsson.

Except Jakob is left handed, is 6’2 and not afraid to use it, has a booming shot and is much more aggressive with his defensive stick work.

Words cannot describe how happy I am that this is the player we got. He's so perfect it hurts, honestly... Lalimes Martian on Twitter said it best - this dude is a friggin man missile. Built like a Sherman tank and moves around like Porsche.

Someone please tell me I'm wrong. The Sens have a better D-Corps than the Leafs do right now.

They have better depth to be sure. Won't argue that. But I'm taking our top 5 dmen (Hamonic at #5) over theirs right now quite easily.

Hopefully he can stay healthy, it’s my only worry.

With Brännström's defensive game being at the stage it's at (very good) and RhD being his preferred position, Chychrun-Brännström could be an excellent pairing.

Chabot - Zub
Chychrun - Brännström
Sanderson - Hamonic

Roll all 3 pairings, everyone plays 20 mins/game.

I think Brannstrom is gonna stay out of the lineup. Not my preference but they are going to run it back after the win in NYC.
