Traded Jakob Chychrun (D)

Brannstrom is better on left (he has played better lately). Hamonic should be on the third pair.

Sanderson - Chychrun
Chabot - Zub
Brannstrom - Hamonic

He just flew the red eye to a road destination.

Yeah I'm totally ok with that too, but if we want to let Chychrun accommodate it might not be such a bad idea to let him play his side for some time I guess.

His shooting ability from the point is going to be huge. Chabot, Sanderson, and Brannstrom could all benefit from a partner who is a threat to score from the point.

Currently only Hamonic is a real shooting threat from the blueline, but he lacks the complementary ability to make plays. Sandy and Chabot pretty good at sifting wrist shots to the net or corner.

Getting more pucks on net from the blueline will help open things up down low and lead to more greasy goals around the net.

Interested to see where he slots in!

Have said this before but shouldn’t all NHL players be jacked? They are pro athletes. They don’t need to be like DK Metcalf level but I would hope Chychrun is the average/standard.

Couldn't you get a competitive advantage by making all your players get way stronger then? Just seems weird.
NHL players don't necessarily need the most jacked physique in terms of a lot of muscles mass akin to body builders, but they need to have the strength and explosive power to handle a sport like hockey. I remember Phillips, dude looked like he had a dad bod but could move on the ice in a way that was surprising at times.

And then you get Rod Brindamour who was locked out of the gym cuz he was a freak

Not necessarily. McDavid might not be a better player if he got “jacked” and added 15 pounds of muscle. It could take away from his explosiveness.

But like would Phillips have been ever better if he improved his upper body strength and put on muscle mass instead of fat?

Again all these guys should be gym freaks it's literally their job lol.

15 pounds of pure muscle is a shit ton. But if someone like Phil Kessel got more svelt it wouldn't make him a better player?

Skinny AF compared to Chychrun lol

I remember Phil Esposito talking about the guys in his time who were jacked were always the ones getting injured for whatever reason. His explanation? YOU CAN'T HURT FAT

Maybe Chychrun should start downing melted gallons of ice cream while binging on Netflix to lessen his injuries??

It sounds funny but it's 100% true in my own personal experience/observations.

On a deeper level I think it's somewhat akin to when some drunk people survive crazy accidents they shouldn't have, and its due to their bodies being loose and limber and capable of rolling with the punches. Not jacked and tight and bracing for impact, trying to just tank through the damage. If you know what I mean.

There are two examples of it "working out like that" on championship winning teams in the post you quoted.

In both cases, the bluechip up and coming D was the one that got to take advantage of easier matchups and in both cases, said blueliners went on to have very successful NHL careers. Plenty more examples too.

Chabot, Chychrun, Sanderson is a championship winning caliber left side D and it's our best course, over forcing one of them to the right side to have a good looking top 4 on paper.
I support whatever works best. Try different arrangements to see which pairs have the best chemistry together and to have the best optimal results for the team.
