Its very evident they prefer Chabot. So they gotta trade Chychrun in the next two weeks before TDL. It would be very poor asset management to not do it, just like they should have traded Debrincat last year.

Once Hanifin moves whoever lost out on him will likely be targeting Chychrun. Really need Conroy to get on with it here haha.
100% agree. No way we should be retaining though.

No he has a good contract. They could however take a contract back that's on a one way deal.
Yeah, we could take back an expiring contract of approximate value, but they can pay for that with another prospect added to the deal. We have a good asset in Chychrun, and there is an opportunity here to make a good trade for the long term health of the organization - we should be squeezing the teams that want him hard. I want a first and a blue chip prospect at minimum...

There's no question Chabot has looked a lot better than Chychrun since the coaching change, and there's really only room for one of them going forward since neither has looked comfortable at RD.

If Chychrun is the guy we're moving, it should be done at the deadline this year and we should strongly consider retaining 50% of his contract to maximize his value and try to get as much back as we gave up.
Does he not still have a year left at 4.6? This makes him even more attractive

Yep - Chychrun has a full year left after this one at a pretty cap friendly price. Any team that is looking to load up for the next couple of playoff runs could take him on without too much difficulty. That's why I think there is a great opportunity to move him at the deadline for a big price. Brian Burke was fond of saying that more bad decisions get made on trade deadline day than any other day of the year - I'm happy to go take advantage of a team that irrationally decides that the future is now...

I think retention is almost a no-brainer.

Kubalik & Brannstrom won't return anything notable, even with retention. Tarasenko & Murray retention ends before next season.

Chychrun at $2.3m opens up the market on him and makes him more valuable to most teams in on him. I think it could make a real difference in return.

This. But any acquiring team won't have the ability to talk extension so it might reduce the return.
This is true, but also not exactly true.

A player can indicate how much they are looking for and whether they would sign with your team... you just can't formally negotiate. Any team we trade Chychrun to should have a good idea as to whether he will extend there.

Wild that he's not playing better considering he's up for a contract soon... maybe he needs to go back on the carnivore diet.

Quick trade this guy out of here before he eats the liver or spleen of one of the other two more desirable dmen.

He needs to simplify his game a lot more. He needs to play a defensive game and stop thinking he’s an offensive guy.

He doesn’t have the hockey IQ - good player and useful but his slotting on this team is completely stupid and Ottawa won’t get back what they paid for him.

Simple. He doesn't want to play on the Sens anymore. Something has really put him off and his heart isn't in it.

The Sens are probably one of the very few teams where he is not a top 2 LD.

He will absolutely improve and be better utilized elsewhere.

Good player. Not a good fit.
If he was a good player he would simply look better.

I dono. I think a lot of it may be nerves. He must be a little disappointed. He wanted to come here. And stay here. And it quickly kinda gone down the drain.

Good lord. I think Pierre may have destroyed the rebuild with this trade and the Cat ones. Literally two top 10 picks thrown away to the abyss. There is no chance Chychrun survives this summer. I'd image he gets moved for a vet presence. I wouldn't expect a major asset coming back.
