Fire Sweeney and Neely
It's possible that the rest of the league isn't in love with him. His trade value has been higher than it is right now and apparently no one offered anything good for him. My guess is GM's realize that he's a very inconsistent player. I also think they look at how he actually scores a lot of his goals as opposed to just looking at the box scores. I think half of it is they see him scoring on a lot of tipped shots, wide open rebounds, fortunate bounces, etc. and aren't blown away, and the other half of it is that they're probably frustrated that he doesn't stay in the area where he is productive, which is right near the net.Sorry, I trade him at the highest value. Whenever that is. TD? No way I pay him, sorry Jake.
But at the end of the day, I think Sweeney just doesn't want to trade him. TIFWIW, but Fluto wrote an article a few years ago where he basically said that the Bruins were afraid of trading him. My guess, and it's just a guess, is part of that is driven by them trading away young players like Kessel, Seguin, and Hamilton and they're terrified about what could happen if he goes elsewhere. If that's a big reason, I completely understand it. I disagree, as Jake is nowhere near the caliber of those players when they were dealt, but I understand it.
