Hopefully he heats up now!

Nice to see Jake get going the past couple of games - he acknowledged the break working for him. He got out to a good start vs Buffalo and found some confidence to build off of from there. Marchand created the play that led to his goal, but what patience and poise - a goal scorers goal and then a nice little dish to a streaking pasta with timing and precision to send him in 1 on 1. Marchand Coyle Debrusk can and should be the line if everyone plays to their capability. Keep it up.

He needs to watch Elf more

Elf is an outstanding Christmas movie but the real gem is the actors they had in it

It starts with Leon Redbone as the snowman and Bob Newhart and just gets better and better

All I ask of this guy is more of what we've seen the last two games - and not limited to production, but his compete level - not all see the differences, but they are clear as day when he's going and when he's not.

Jake DeBrusk first round pick 14th overall entry draft of 2015

His play this year has not been bad but until the last couple of games he has not been overly involved in game outcomes. Granted he has been a little snake bitten offensively but during the first part of the season he has remained sound defensively. While he has not been outright hurting the team with his overall play the expectations were(are) for more production offensively. This team has plenty of third and fourth liners who are responsible defensively, Jake needs to be more involved offensively.

Here is the rub that drives so many of us Bruins fans somewhat crazy - we know what he is capable of ... yet he is maddeningly inconsistent. When he is 'off' his game for long periods he is as extremely a frustrating player as he is an exciting encouraging productive player when his game is 'on.' We are teased with longing for the potential that is lost in the inconsistency.

This is a contract year for Jake DeBrusk, ... most players across the league when in a contract year play with the intent to prove their worth and hence a pay increase in their next contact. Thus far this year he has shown that he is a very good third liner, (yet we know he is more than that - and yet the inconsistency.) Based on how he has played to date 4.5 - 5.5 short term is a ballpark of what Boston should offer; and yes, he would get more than that on the open market. With that said, Jake is a streaky player (he reminds me a little of Michael Ryder), it would not surprise me to see him pot 15 - 20+ goals over the last half of the season. If he were to do that people would forget his disappearing for long stretches and insist he be paid 6+ long term. And if he were to do that it would be somewhat justified, this team needs goal scorers and 20 - 30 goal wingers are hard to come by.

Bruins management will have a very hard decision to make concerning Jake DeBrusk especially if he is sitting at around 12 - 15 goals mid February. Management supposedly likes the person/player but his inconsistency must be a concern. They can not afford to overpay him on his next contract and yet they can not allow him to walk at year's end. Hard choices and hockey is a business and management must do what is best for the team both short term and long term. Would they consider him as trade bait possibly in a package with others (Grzelck, and another) and picks (a first) to acquire a number one center (Lindholm? Hertl? other?)? If Calgary, maybe pick up Hanifin in the deal as well. Need to give to get, plus clear cap space to make room. Maybe management has already tried this and were told no, or told to wait until later.

I know people don't want to give up the first round pick or others, but if a team is in a playoff position trading the first for NHL proven talent is acceptable ... Hold the first if out of the playoffs. A late first would most likely be years away from having an impact in Boston if at all. Go for the known/proven asset when in playoffs; ... when in the lottery even a top 3 or 5 overall pick is not guaranteed to ever play a game though the chances increase significantly.

Of course if Jake and the Bruins management agree on a very reasonable team friendly deal then this become a mute discussion and as fans we would just have to accept and hope that Jake would overcome his inconsistency.

Sign him now 8 years 80 million!!

Well, this is a delicious development.

It's almost predictable.

Conor Ryan of Boston.com and Bruins Rinkside podcasts believes the Bruins should hang on to DeBrusk because he's rounded out his game without the puck and can realistically be penciled in for 20 plus goals a year. He thinks the Bruins would take that and keep Jake at 5 million, not sure about term.

All I can say is that if Jake "goes on a heater" (stop that stupid phrase please), his trade value increases, as does his payday in free agency.

Things will shake out in February and March, and the Bruins will have a decision to make.

Whether some like it or not, on this team at this time, JDB is not a secondary scorer. He's a primary scorer.

If his stock rises and the B's don't want to pay 7 mill plus term (and they don't), perhaps a trade partner can be found.

Otherwise, assuming DeBrusk continues to produce -- which, again, will become clear in Feb/March, when the rubber truly meets the road -- the Bruins may well hang on to him for their playoff run. (He's produced in the playoffs.)

Your guess is as good as mine. I wish Jake well regardless.

This right here. He's mentally there right now.

Missed yesterday’s game but when I saw box score and the 4 pims I couldn’t help wishing for a couple roughing minors.

Not to be, but even better, good to see him light the lamp again.

The man may be heating up again, Jan/feb will be interesting as it further defines what he will or won’t mean to the Bs organization beyond this year.

You keep Debrusk, unless he is the key piece in a package that allows the team to get better.

Or unless the bottom falls out of the Bruins season before the deadline. And even in this scenario, it better be a fantastic deal, not some late 20s pick that might be a DeBrusk replacement in 5 seasons if everything goes well

Jake is playing well now for sure but If Jake Debrusk name is not on a contract by deadline ,he better darn well be traded because I do not want no more players leaving without any compensation because that would be bad buisness in my opinion.

Of course he needs to score goals, which he's doing now with consistent line mates and not the constant shuffling. Who knew that could help?

Also. We shouldn't ignore that he's now a better all around 200 ft player this year, which helps him as he grows into a mature better all around player. The goals are now coming ALONG with everything else he's improved on. We should be proud and appreciate that he took his game up to be a complete player in every area.

There's a better chance of pigs flying than Sweeney trading DeBrusk. DeBrusk is Sweeney's binky.
I am not sure many agree with that, I am one who has always pulled for the kid but must admit there was times if it would be best for a trade for all concerned.

So are we impressed by his play now? It seems this thread only gets updated when he isn't playing up to people's standards. I think he's been fantastic after Christmas and so has the team.
