Everyone’s numbers are going to be affected by the loss of last years players.

Kind of tough to say when every full-time forward from last year is having a better or equal scoring season except the one whose name is the title of this thread

The Bruins must be thinking about who else they could sign with the cap money it will take to sign Jake (I hope)?

$6 million, $7 million? That's a lot of scratch.

I wonder what other free agents could be had by using the money allocated to Jake?

Stamkos, Pettersson, Nylander, Reinhart, Teravainen, Lindholm? Stamkos is pissed off at the Lightning. Pettersson is no doubt, a bonafide franchise Center. Why has he not signed with Vancouver? Is Lindholm staying in Calgary?

#1 Center is still the Bruins biggest need.

Probably not worth much on the trade market unless there’s another decent upside change of scenery type player available. Just gotta hope the hustle pays off and he hits his stride when it counts.

I would rather use that money towards a C if possible. Pettersson is a RFA and I can’t see them paying what it would take to aquire him. I think I’d rather give Nylander 10 million than pay Jake 7. Seems like every time he gets bumped off the power play that he just can’t get it going offensively. It was the same thing when Ritchie was on PP1, although at least now his all around game is better and he can still contribute in their ways

They had 59 goals at this point last year and 45 this year. Thats like a 25% drop off.

DeBrusk is 4G off his pace from last year and Lindholm is 4G off his pace of last year.
The D in total is off by 4G and 4L by at least 3G.

Interestingly the 3 Centers this year are 1G combined over last years.

Pretty clearly the O drop is 74\27. Right now, I have more confidence in #74 regaining form than #27.

Lindholm's usage is far too D/shutdown heavy to expect 50 pts out of him again. He was also always a roughly ~30 pt transition/shutdown guy.

I would be fine with the 30 point pace but the guy is pacing below 12 points for the year and has looked good maybe 5 games this year. Combined Lindholm and DeBrusk are pacing for roughly 45 points. They need to produce better numbers than that.

DeBrusk play has been good since sitting out, so I believe the puck is going to start going in soon. Lindholm is a different story because he has been turning the puck over way to much for my liking for a guy 2nd Team NHL All Star.

give Jake a playmaking center youll see more goals similar most center reliant wingers.

You can say that about anybody.

But I really don't see Debrusk as a winger that needs that playmaking center as much. Most of his goals seem to come on rushes that he leads himself or tips and rebounds around the net. A number of goals last season off Marchand shots. He's 4th on the team in shots on goal. They need to start going in every once and awhile.

many elite wingers can create their own offense. Jakes assist number over his career suggest he's not that tier of player.

Agreed and Jake’s numbers anytime he’s been away from bergeron/krejci have been pedestrian at best.

I realize no one is giving up a good #1 center for Jake. My cap right now for him is $5 million unless he puts up some numbers. Even if he does get on a streak, I feel even $6 million is too high. $5.5 is probably what I’d do.

Totally agree. I’d love to see it

NO WAY he is worth anywhere near 6 million.

Well when you consider the rising cap, 6 million today is really about 4 million but 6 million in our minds means “brad Marchand bergeron Pastrnak money”

Coyle makes 5 something and that deal was inked awhile back.

Looks particularly tough on Jake right now because he’s going goalless, but he would absolutely get 6 on the open market.

Tough decision for sweeney as I wouldn’t sign the guy at his current pace and I’m a Jake fanboy compared to most on here

If Nugent-Hopkins gets $5.125/yr, thats my ballpark for DeBrusk. I just don't see the $6/mil++ numbers that he wants. Maybe theres a team out there stupid enough to give it to him?

I like Jake but would not give him 6 million.

Originally when Brandon Hagel signed at 6.5 a lot of people were saying it was a good comp for Debrusk but quite frankly it’s not close. Hagel is a 1st line player. Debrusk is a complimentary top 6 player.

5-5.5 is much more reasonable IMO
