How about rangers actually have possesion and control for a significant time in devils zone. 2nd period, the only time rangers seemed dangerous.. The rangers make a change. Devils tired, Hischer is dead tired on one knee. Trouba gets the puck and immediately, no traffic, fires into the chest of Schmid. The only sustain pressure rangers get, and this caveman decides a point shot with no traffic is the best idea.

Need MOAR shots leads to dumb shit like that. Panarin missed a pass to a completely wide open guy in the slot (high danger shot) to take an unscreened shot from the faceoff dot against a square goalie (medium danger). Not a bad play but also not the ideal play. Joe 'no such thing as a bad shot' M himself called Panarin out for it (though I think he got the wrong guy who was open).

They're in their own heads, playing too tight and flubbing simple plays. Devils are loose and ready to capitalize on every mistake.

On the PP, they're scared of the cross ice pass. Even when the Devils sticks aren't in the lane but their body sort of is they don't force the issue. The Devils otoh are slinging passes cross ice on the PP and if it gets blocked it gets block. Rangers are playing scared. When we do manage a cross ice pass on the PP then they immediately look to pass it back cross ice. No lane is available so they end resetting with a wasted royal road opportunity.

Devils are always moving too creating passing lanes. We are too stagnant. Especially on the PP

Not getting nearly enough criticism. Somehow looks even slower than he usually does. Seriously costs us on every PP, I can't count the number of times the puck goes back to the point instead of being at the point he's skating in circles in the neutral zone. Worst PP player I've ever seen. He does shit that you shouldn't even see in beer league, just braindead.

He’s a net negative value at $8m

New nickname:

8 million dollar Gudas.

Radko Gudas does everything that Trouba does and is maybe even better. 2.5 cap hit.

Trouba didn't make the Devils scared to cross the blueline until the third period of game 7.

If he can't do that then IDK why the f*** he's here.

No points in the series too, I believe.

He's a disaster.

This guy's f***ing garbage. It was a garbage trade, a garbage signing, and a garbage captaincy selection.

The worst part isn't even the fact that he sucks ass for $8M/yr, but the fact that his shit play is adversely affecting the development of our other Dmen. K'Andre became worlds worse after another year of being partnered with him.

Overpaid for sure...
However, he was not the problem in this series.
Defense played incredible 6 of the 7 games. Game 7 was abysmal for everyone.
Our forwards were the problem.
Our defense was nowhere near incredible this series, brother. They're supposed to contribute to getting the puck out of our zone... the entire series took place in our defensive zone.

Its a system issue with the breakouts. Not defending Trouba because he was hot ass and waited too long to lay out Meier, but the defenseman have no idea what to do against the forecheck because their is no plan beyond "chip it out and hope for the best. When Panarin & Kane are turning it over at the blue line once a shift, the defenseman are basically chum for a team like NJ.

I will say, Meier/Hischier/Bratt combined for 1 empty net goal , and Hughes didnt score once with a Ranger within 15 feet of him. The Devils rush game didn't beat us, their forecheck did.

I beg to differ. You rely on your D to do a transition game and make the right plays on the offensive blue line to maintain pressure. Lack of any transition and poor decisions on the offensive blue line were a huge part of the failure in this series.

their rush game didn't beat us?They destroyed us in odd man rushes all series and scored 6 goals off the rush

The fact that someone got paid to evaluate this guys talent and then OK’d him being worth 8 mil a year is absolutely ludicrous.

Typical rangers overpaying for their “stay at home” defensemen…

You are misevaluating their mistake.

Trouba was never a stay at home defenseman. He's always been mediocre at best as a defenseman.

They paid him because they thought he was an upgrade over Pionk, he was young, big (which they always overvalue) and mobile, and that he could run a power play, as evidenced by his 50 points with Winnipeg when running the power play.

They overpaid him from Day 1 and everyone said so, but at the time we thought we were in for a much longer rebuild and he was going to be the anchor like Panarin was going to be the anchor for the forwards. Which made sense to me - get some stalwarts for the kids to lean on even though you are going to be bad.

Trouba was then immediately surpassed by Fox and the role that Trouba was good at - PP specialist - was taken from him. Instead, we needed Trouba to be a defensive babysitter for a kid on the second pair, while we tried to win immediately which we were really not equipped to try to do just yet. And Trouba is unequivocably terrible in that babysit and be a stay at home defenseman role.

The accelerated rebuild created a situation that Trouba was not right for in terms of usage and also created a system where we desperately need his cap space to pay the players who are now far more important to us.

He needs to go, even if the original thought in acquiring him was not terrible.

Feel asleep and missed the best part. Trucking Meier. Bad hit though technically.

One more year, then he can be traded.

He can be traded today.

Jacob, pick a team and waive, or we have 15 non desirable locations for us to ship you and your wife off to next offseason.

He can’t handle pucks or pass. The one thing you are here for is playoff toughness and you wait to throw a big hit down 2-0 in game 7 with the series virtually over. I lost all respect for him. He can go today.

No he can't.

"I wont pick shit. See you in 4 months. Also Chris, I get to choose 15 teams you can't trade me to. So you'll have the 16th least desired spot for me and my MD wife. Thanks, bye."

Also we slapped the C on him. hahaha. Dude is so unmovable.

Then guess what he's getting.

His least most desired spot in 12 months.

I call bullshit.... If he could pick, say, going home to Detroit now, versus being sent to the worst of the 16 teams on his list in 12 months, he will choose the desirable one now.

Also we slapped the C on him. hahaha. Dude is so unmovable.

Stupid decision on our part, but we've traded captains before.

He's not going anywhere until his nmc becomes a ntc.

We are stuck with him for at least one more season. They have to at the very least break up him and Miller, they are not a good pairing whatsoever.

Everyone sucked, the team sucked as a whole. The F sucked as much as the D.

Forwards were forcing passes and plays that weren't there, instead of chipping and chasing or cycling to the point causing rush chances against. Wingers were losing so many battles on the walls trying to get pucks out of the zone, giving Debs more possessions and zone time.

Devils had so many odd man rushes with 3 forwards being caught back and the F3 not getting back in time.

They got their shit pushed in......

Trouba should not be on the PP but even strength wise it was Fox that was horrible. If Fox did not have a great goalie people would speak about how little he moves his feet in his own zone. He moves them in the offensive zone but not the defensive zone.
