sheesh that's embarassing. i'm glad i missed this debacle.

what is it with making players the captain on this rangers team? not that trouba was anything special prior,
but at least he put together solid games last year and was physical.

Trouba's terrible run of form goes back to the Tampa series. If he is overwhelmed by the Captaincy then fix it. If he is injured then let him heal. Gallant seems proud that he keeps playing through his injuries but he is a detriment to the team right now. I'm so done with Gallant giving the kids shit when his beloved vets are stinking the place up.

This is that old-school mentality of Gallant and other coaches that doesnt make sense to me. If its Kakko, Chytil or Kravstov they sit and heal up to the point where they sit as a healthy scratch almost. But if its a respected vet that is banged up and clearly not himself, its up to them.

The bigger issue is that injured or not he can move the pairings and the lineup all around in 400 different combinations but the players are still the same. This is the problem. You cant afford to sit him even if you wanted to

For real. It's telling that none of the kids have so much as a power play point in a third of the season.

I'm also tired of Trocheck on the first unit. He doesn't fit there at all. Just makes everything entirely too right handed, Panarin holding the puck at the RW circle, not shooting enough, and obvious easy coverages on the one timers on both Trocheck and Zibanejad, so the only thing Panarin can do is pass the puck back and forth with Adam Fox 4 times until the PK moves enough to attempt the cross ice pass that the PK was expecting the whole time, so it probably won't work anyway.

It would actually give the first unit a different and dynamic look to have a left handed shot like Laf, Kakko, or even Kravtsov playing the RW half boards who can one time pucks from that side of the ice for a change. This is literally Tampa's power play build with Kucherov playing counter to the Stamkos one timer, and it'd probably open up more looks for Zibanejad too.

If he plays as a defensive defender who stays in position and give the puck to anyone else on the breakout, he can actually be okay.

It's actually kinda embarassing he's the captain of the Rangers.

He's not a good player, he's certainly not respected by opposing fans, idk if he's respected by opposing players, but I doubt it.

I think he was a valube to the org at first and how he helped mentor KAM but I am concerned if you can be a successful team with this guy not only leading it but counting for 8M against the cap on it.

Even if you were to try and move him which is very unrealistic, how awful of a look would it be to jettison someone you named captain a few months ago.
