It's actually kinda embarassing he's the captain of the Rangers.

He's not a good player, he's certainly not respected by opposing fans, idk if he's respected by opposing players, but I doubt it.

I think he was a valube to the org at first and how he helped mentor KAM but I am concerned if you can be a successful team with this guy not only leading it but counting for 8M against the cap on it.

Even if you were to try and move him which is very unrealistic, how awful of a look would it be to jettison someone you named captain a few months ago.
“idk if he’s respected by opposing players”

Jujhar Khaira says “no.” Lol

For real. It's telling that none of the kids have so much as a power play point in a third of the season.
Very telling indeed. It tells me they really really suck on the powerplay. Not only scoreless but I believe they had 2 goals scored on them. Collectively under Gallant...... Laffy ,KK and Chytil have 307.9 PP minutes and collectively scored 1 goal. Have you watched them on the PP ??? it's painful. They start in the OZ or with possession over 95% of the time and usually cough up the puck in less than 15 seconds.

BTW .......for all you posters who say the kids get no PP time . A kid has been one of the PP leaders since his Rookie year........Adam Fox.......but he deserved/earned it !

They've had two kids who have got a ton of PP time the last year yet all you hear about is the few that don't. Fox and Shesterkin are both among the Rangers leaders in PP TOI.

And then the power play is over. How successful would PP1 be in the first 20 seconds having to carry the puck in and set up? Because that's basically what PP2 gets, and they rarely get the OZ face-off like PP1 gets to start with

Edit: Realizing this is the Trouba thread. In that light I'll add that the strategy for PP2 if they do set up in that 20 seconds is to force-feed this guy a slap shot which will no doubt miss the net or be blocked. No one is mistaking this guy for Al Macinnis. Of course the numbers suck for them.

Does he actually have an injury? Or is it just speculation. I googled a bit but came up empty handy. Thanks.

May have healed by now. He has definitely been much better during this recent stretch. He is overpaid but still plays an important role and he'd be missed if he was out of the lineup. Im fine with him being the whipping boy, because aint going anywhere anytime soon.

His tenure to date, in terms of his on-ice play, has definitely been disappointing. Even more so because of last season, when he looked like a guy that could justify a good bit of his hefty salary, with generally strong showings and game-changing physical play. Then this year, it's back to mistake after mistake.

It does seem like he has had a positive impact on a lot of the younger guys, though, as well as the locker room as a whole. So, that's something. It doesn't make him worth anything approaching $8M, unfortunately, but it's something.

I wish I could like Trouba because he does have positives.

But the general refusal to acknowledge that his negatives outweigh the positives for THIS team, makes him really hard not to dislike.

Not getting nearly enough criticism. Somehow looks even slower than he usually does. Seriously costs us on every PP, I can't count the number of times the puck goes back to the point instead of being at the point he's skating in circles in the neutral zone. Worst PP player I've ever seen. He does shit that you shouldn't even see in beer league, just braindead.
