Gallant is partially to blame for Trouba’s struggles. Similar to Hunt on the second line last year. Trouba should not be the point man on PP2. Take him off the PP or at least move him to the left circle and put Jones at the point.

He’s generally fine as a second pairing d and on the pk but isn’t mobile enough for any other situation. Maybe Gallant is starting to figure this out as Trouba saw no ice time in 3-3 against the Flyers.

We'll get a nice C-level return for him from TB. It's all part of the plan.
Probably Detroit under Yzerman. Trying to turn the corner on the rebuild, have cap space, Trouba is from and went to Michigan and his buddy Copp just signed there. Could see him waiving after this year and going for like a 2nd and 3rd

Watching Trouba play the point on the PP or play 3 on 3 OT is like watching a 35 yr old Scott Stevens.

Just like icing the line that is getting crushed in its own zone with a d zone faceoff after a tv timeout.
It’s so obvious to everyone except the person making millions of dollars to notice these things and do something about it.

cf and xg do not take into account absolute bonehead moments. You can play great hockey 95% of the time and make 5 errors that lead to 5 goals. That’s the Trouba gripe right now. Disaster moments every night.

This.

Miller is the bigger contributor to that success anyway, if you look at their stats with/without each other, and Trouba has had mindnumbing giveaways and defensive lapses.

Or, it's that the team goalies have an .867 with him on the ice which is roughly equivalent to the league average save percentage while on the PK. There has not been a single defender who has played 1000+ mins the last 3 years that has been below .892. It doesn't matter how many mistakes you make, or how bad you are, nobody puts up results like that long term.

That pass to the bench was an all-timer. I think Mount Rushmore is now complete. Jokinen, Kreider, McIlrath, Trouba. Someone carve it.

Exactly. But not Jones. I want to see Schneider there on the PP2. Higher upside, better shot, better instincts than Jones. The only value Trouba has on the PP is left point/circle one timing pucks. He's absolutely useless on the right point.

Fox should play the entire two minutes on the PP instead of messing around with these other guys. He stands around on the point moving here and there. He's not skating back and forth at full speed. He can easily handle it. Trouba can play in the left circle on the second unit to take one timers if he must be there.

I was giving him the benefit of the doubt, hoping that he attacked him but the video cut it off.... Nope. He just kept coasting like his controller was disconnected.

Sums up the team perfectly.
