Panarin is not bad in the regular season.

Playoffs, sure, but I’d even say there that last year Trouba was more damaging in the playoffs. He was actively losing us goals. Panarin just wasn’t playing like more than an okay second line winger. Bad for what his cap hit is, but if you look at him as like a 5M guy it’s not like he was hurting us. Trouba legitimately hurts us.
I think it's a lot easier to get positive value out of an $8m Trouba on a bottom pair than it is to get value out of a $12m Panarin in the playoffs. If he's not scoring he's useless. He's just kinda there taking up a lot of cap

The homerism in thinking the Rags aren't the bad guys. It was a shitty thing to do to Goodrow and it's still shitty here. Normally I'm all for winning at all costs but this is the kind of thing that can come back and bite you in the ass

Hockey players all have ego and never think it will happen to them.

There will be zero consequences for the Rangers over this. None.

This whole situation doesn't get f***ed up if not for Covid. The Pandemic pushed back his wifes residency which was the timeframe from his contract going from NMC to limited NTC... He's been put in a tough spot due to that. the Rangers would have been able to move him over the past summer if the pandemic wasn't a thing.

anyways, must be tough for these millionaires and their DR wives, hope they will recover.... but not in Pittsburgh please... thanks

Yeah, as much as I think Trouba is a POS on this ice I can certainly sympathize with him off it. He set up his NMC to align with his wife's residency and no one really could've foreseen the circumstances that caused it to be extended by a year. He also negotiated a NTC for this season and leveraged it in a way that is well within his rights to manage a rare situation, where it is difficult for the family of a player to be able to move with them.

I get that he's ridiculously rich and they can easily afford childcare and flights to see each other whenever there are breaks in their schedules and it's only a year, etc. But still, it sucks to have to be away from your wife and infant child for the better part of a year and have to miss key milestones like your kid learning to talk and walk, or even just seeing them everyday and knowing who you are.

Personally, I don't like the mentality of "he's rich, so he should just suck it up and do what's best for the team/fans" versus his own life. Yeah, sure - we'd all kill to be in his position and there are many people like those in military that have to make this type of sacrifice, but I can still respect the guy for not wanting to be away from his family for 9 months if he doesn't have to.

Will be interesting to see how this all plays out. I don't fault the Rangers for trying to force a move and make their team better. Hard to see a team claiming him off waivers, but maybe there's one out there that will - would be a hell of a risk to take by Drury if Trouba were to call his bluff and not waive his NTC and go unclaimed.

If damn near every D man on a team is underperforming, maybe coaching is the problem
I don’t think it’s coaching. It’s the build of the defense. Getting rid of Trouba is step one to fixing it. Lindgren and Miller are now on notice. I’d be shocked if Lindgren is on the team opening night next year, and the way Miller is playing it’s went from very likely he gets re-signed to a toss-up.

"Brooksie" from the top rope, bringing Tkachuk into the fray, only for Darren Dreger to step in a few minutes later and say there's absolutely zero talks between the Rangers and Sens.

I sure love when these so-called "insiders" take to twitter with wildly different reports.

They're probably both right. Drury is a source for Uncle Larry. Drury probably did inquire on Tkachuk and the Senators probably laughed at him.

Didn't Uncle Larry say that the Rangers wanted to acquire Alex Tuch at the Deadline last year?

Ahh okay, I got it all mixed up; my memory is terrible

Thanks for the help!

Got it confused with the Edmonton-St Louis debacle.. my bad!
my memory is shit, I feel ya. Fukcing anxiety really screws with it

Damn they really pulled a “PACK YO SHIT UP AND LEAVE NOW” on Trouba 😂😂😂
Don't let the door hit ya....

For the love of god I am getting less done today than I do on trade deadline and ufa days.

At least it's a Friday.

I must say, I'm enjoying this – perhaps a bit too much.

I don't mind Rangers fans at all. I think they have a very knowledgeable, classy fan base that doesn't unfairly shit all over the rest of the league. It's not their fault that so many young college-educated and/or American players want to play in New York for the New York Rangers, and any other franchise would be just as happy to be the beneficiary of that as well.

That said, I really can't stand Jacob Trouba. He was nothing but pain in the ass for the Winnipeg Jets, and everything to do with his hockey career is all about Jacob Trouba. I wouldn't want him with the team I follow – the Leafs – for all the tea in China.

I will be very surprised if he is actually traded, and very, very surprised if he is actually placed on waivers. However, I am enjoying the suspense of waiting to see what might happen.

I am hoping Jacob Trouba goes to the most painful destination possible for Jacob Trouba.

Anaheim, Ottawa or Calgary etc

Hilarious hockey karma here.

First Trouba rejects WPG causes he’s too good for the Peg.

And now NYR rejects Trouba cause he’s not good enough for the Rags.

See ya later you head hunting primadonna bitch. And for those asking if he is this bad? Do you not watch playoffs, Trouba BLOWS.

TRouba's issue is his contract and that he's the Captain. You can't pull 8M and wear the C and be the 6/7th D.

Trouba will play out this contract then sign with a contender for far less and will get his name on the Stanley Cup.
