Schneider and Jones.

Fox has had easily his worst season. He’s only doing his job by virtue of that his level can’t drop that much because he’s just a great hockey player.

The bad thing is everyone on defense underperforms except the two young guys who play the least.
If damn near every D man on a team is underperforming, maybe coaching is the problem

I could be misremembering.. but didnt the Rangers waive Goodrow and then trade compensation to the Sharks for taking him? Maybe even a prearranged move?

I dont know if that happens here as well. But if it does; is that considered circumvention of the NTC? Would the league or NHLPA allow it to happen twice?

Nope. That definitely would have been a contract breach.

Controversial in the sense that it's sort of a workaround to NTCs. Whole idea of NTCs is that you have some control over your destination if you get traded. If management can say "we're going to waive you if you don't accept a trade to one of these teams on your NTC list", then that defeats the purpose of the NTC list. Not much Trouba can do about it now, but it's something that players (and the union) will likely keep in mind for the future.

No it doesn't, that's the difference between an NTC and NMC. Some fans act like they're basically the same thing, but this is exactly the kind of situation that shows why an NTC isn't enough for some players.

Can't hate on the guy for using his NTC, gaming his NTC to his advantage, and wanting to stay in New York. That's what's in his contract and what he thinks is best for himself and his family. That being said, when you start hearing reports (from multiple people) that teams are shying away from trading for him because he doesn't want to leave and won't be happy I don't think it's too difficult to figure out who's putting that out there and for what reason.
Wouldn't even try to argue with anything you've written, and I understand the frustration that Ranger fans must have, seeing as he's not doing them any favors here. What I won't do, is blame him for prioritizing his family over the team.

There was no follow-up, San Jose claimed Goodrow and that was that. A lot of people thought there must have been something else brewing to make the Sharks claim him, but nothing happened.

Trouba is the least bad of the 3 and is being scapegoated when the real problem is the $20m in useless forwards
Panarin is not bad in the regular season.

Playoffs, sure, but I’d even say there that last year Trouba was more damaging in the playoffs. He was actively losing us goals. Panarin just wasn’t playing like more than an okay second line winger. Bad for what his cap hit is, but if you look at him as like a 5M guy it’s not like he was hurting us. Trouba legitimately hurts us.

No, that was St. Louis sending Edmonton something extra for not matching.

The Rangers and Sharks haven't made a trade since 2022

I wonder if he gets claimed only to get traded later.

I can't see him wanting to go to Montreal or Columbus or Utah for example.

I'm in the minorty I'd like to have him but not at 8 million.

I'd take him at 4 million though especially if we could send a little money back.

If that were the case he'd probably be willing to waive. Says he's willing to go to Dallas and a bad team eats 50% i doubt they would have this big of an issue.

I mean if there are teams actively interested in trading for him and the Rangers are threatening waivers, there's a decent change it's a Goodrow situation. So if Drury knows someone would take him off waivers, why eat 50% of his deal?

But that's just me speculating since Drury set the precedent for that already.
Hey power to you. If they can get value for Trouba go for it. Hope it's not my team but there's always one sucker out there.

(Already mentally preparing to be the sucker)

Ahh okay, I got it all mixed up; my memory is terrible

Thanks for the help!

Got it confused with the Edmonton-St Louis debacle.. my bad!

If Trouba gets waived, the Sharks will likely claim him so it's a matter of whether the Hawks or Predators would before them on the waiver order. I'd prefer to make a trade to get him so that we can move someone like Rutta in the process but I'm pretty certain they'd take him off waivers.
