He does things that remind me of Kucherov with how he disguises his shot and gets into the high slot. He's also a little combative even if he just bounces off of people or winds up on his ass much of the time. If he added some straight up grim to his game, he'd have even more Kuch-lite to him.

Another thing this does is hurt their PK since he's been very good now that they're using pressure pairs instead passive forwards. Not keen on going back to more time for Okposo on the PK honestly.
He has been nothing short of found money on the pk. Sucks that he is injured. But the question will have to be asked, is this a trend or a short term anomaly of extremely bad luck. His injury last night was in large part on him for turning into the boards before the hit. I get he was trying to make a play but those types of plays only work in junior when you are demonstrably better than your opponent. I wish him a speedy recovery and he is/was my favorite of the shiny toys. I hope it isn’t serious and he learns to protect himself in those situations. But I think it is fair to ask of he can be counted on to be available.

Definitely a legit question - is the injury thing going to continue going forward and can Quinn learn to not put himself in positions where he's likely to get hurt. We're about to get to the sorting stage of all these smallish offensive wingers - who to keep, if anyone, and who to shuffle out in trade (and who to trade for). Quinn is going to be in that conversation, though I don't think any of them are safe right now.

Gross one - I'm flat out bummed for the kid. Surely the boys are picking him up but he has to be low rn. It's shitty, but I'm left hoping that it's at most a broken ankle or tib instead of any tears.

He's a massive talent but has unfortunately collected a disproportionate share of nasty injuries. That's one definition of injury prone but I don't feel like having that convo yet.

From a cold management perspective this likely impacts how both sides approach his extension negotiations this summer. There's more uncertainty and risk for both sides now. Does 4.5 x 5 become a possibility? Again probably a conversation for the spring and summer, but it felt like he was about to rack up 20 goals the second half of the season and balloon his value.

He's under contract until the summer of 2025. There's nothing to talk about this summer.

Hmm didn't Power just sign his extension entering the final year of his ELC? Maybe I got my timeline messed up, but I thought FAs could sign after July 1 going into their final year under contract.
Well they could, but it's not likely for a non-top draft pick that's not a lock for a long-term deal. Your previous post assumed that both sides would be right on negotiations this summer. I doubt they even seriously consider contract talks until 2025, Peterka too.

I hear ya, just wanted to make sure I had it right that he could sign this off-season.

Tage signed in August and Cozens in February of their expiry seasons, so there's a range of scenarios. It may be unlikely that Quinn gets signed while on a long-term injury, I was just silver lining daydreaming about getting him on a potential bargain due to this.

Monumental disappoinment is right. Still holding out hope for a sprain or a break and no tears.

Yeah it would be nice to get him under a low AAV deal. I figure if anyone is want to hold off now, it would be Quinn. As for silver linings, the Sabres being out of contention makes his injury insignificant, assuming he's ready for next season.

I don’t see thrm signing Quinn ot Peterka to anything right now, nor in the summer.

they have to watch their cap space. Thst might mean him and perks get low bridges. For 2 yrs till skinners contract ends.

So do we hope for a break or a sprain? Never sure which is better when ankles are involved.

I've always heard a clean break heals faster than a sprain. *shrug* I am in no way an MD, just someone who has had a couple of people in my family massively f*** up their ankles with a sprain and almost without fail, a physician has made that statement.

Heals faster and heals more permanently. Sprains may look and feel healed, but there's always that chance that they recur if it's not completely healed.

NHL teams are so brutal with their injury reporting. The fans, whose dollars make the whole thing go, are invested in these players and are curious about their status. The team obviously has completed its diagnosis by now, what's the point in keeping it a secret? Bye week, lol.
Because NHL players can also be barbaric and tend to target known injuries to hurt or throw players off their game.
