Don’t think he’s trying to go for the knee. It looks like he’s trying to hit him and Fabbri kind of moves out of the way and the legs collide. Legit think Hughes doesn’t know how to throw a hit, which makes it’s dangerous and Hughes should see a fine coming his way. The retaliation was intentional and dangerous but I don’t think knee on knee was.

For context, Hughes felt like Fabbri threw an elbow a few seconds before this. Retaliation for the hit, which looks like Fabbri is trying to toss an elbow also.

If you watch the play on something bigger than a twitter-sized gif you can see he doesn't get the elbow up on the head.

I can see him getting mad because it does seem his head gets some contact with the shoulder, but that doesn't excuse him going headhunting and sticking the leg out. That is careless and has no place in the game.

To me it looks like a player so intent on getting payback that he makes a bad decision and ends up kneeing a guy.

I can see being upset by Fabbri's hit but that doesn't mean you turn into Ulf Samuelsson.
