Jack Eichel is quietly becoming a top-5 player in the league

For all this talk of how Mack has been missing his wingers i'd take them for 10 games with lesser help then sticking with Reinhart and Olofsson for 30. Mikko is one of the best wingers in the game...and Jack and Sam don't even work well together imo. It really hasn't mattered much who has played in the RW spot with Jack even Pominville was putting up points with him there. The Sabres also have by far the worst PP unit in the league the past month and without Dahlin their D constantly somehow gives away scoring chances instead of generating some.

Mack is better until Eichel can prove otherwise.

Eichel doesn’t have a season that touches Mack’s Hart year (should have won anyways).

It’s important for people to remember that Mackinnon’s scoring explosion was a year prior to league scoring really shooting up the year after.

Sure but we also can’t discredit Eichel form outscoring Mackinnon at a Younger age while missing over two months and returning from an ankle sprain whilst Mack was healthy and played a full year while older and got out scored or him having three seasons lower then eichels worst.

And the year your talking about Eichel was on pace for just ten less points. Rantanen helped double Mack’s points (but mack has proven without Rantanen he is a new player too) if eich had rantanen who lead the league in points for a lot of last year it Could be different or a lot Closer. Not to mention being a better productive player in his career points per game on a Worse team. You have to admit there’s things in eichels favour and it’s not As far off as some Fans say for the avs

Eichel is scary when he is cycling. Kids gonna win a few awards imo.

Olofsson has been fantastic beside him, he's more than just an elite shot. Easily our two best forwards this year. So happy Jack is finally getting some recognition around the league.

Uh..the bolded is just not true at all. Eichel was on pace for 30 less points than what Mack was on pace for (17-18).

Mackinnon was legitimately playing at McDavid level that year. Eichel hasn't had a season like that so Mack is ahead til Eichel proves otherwise.

I was talking about last year. If I screwed up with what I wrote fine but I was Talking about last yeAr.

And I admitted Mack was ahead? Not sure why you’re saying this? All I said was with Eichel being more productive in his career overall on worse team (career PPG) and Mack having three worst seasons then eichels worst season, or the fact there’s only
A few points separating them right now, it’s not this giant tier. That’s literally all I said. Not sure why you think I am always steering things in the wrong direction (like asking where the offf zone possession and transition proof was) but maybe that could of been you just wanting to see if it was right. I get that you’re a really humble person but you have to see my intent was just to show they’re not tiers apart like many have suggested. (Who don’t watch him)

I was literally just curious where you find those stats lmao

Eichel could go a full season at 3 points per game and Buffalo would still miss the playoffs.

They have no goalie

Ullmarks alright he’s just very young (in terms of NHL experience as a starter/backup) and this team is still working on getting adapted to a new system. The defense has changed a lot too in front of him which hasn’t helped. (Not just from nw players but injuries rotating one guy out, and another coming in, etc) Ukko pekka Luukonen should be fantastic I have faith in both guys.

I was looking at a graph yesterday that showed 31 teams goaltending with easy work hard work great jobs and awful jobs in all four corners and sabres goalies scored way better then I thought. Just Better then middle of the pack I believe.

As for Eichel yeah, he got dealt a bad card. He’s got to be getting frustrated.

The sabres have been having bad powerplay and losing gams by one goal a looooot in the last few weeks. It seems very overtime game is an automatic loss. I don’t like doing those hypothetical team wise where you say if we woulda just win those overtime games we would be here, because everyone could say that. But it sucks even more knowing their trying badly to win and almost do.(

I hate when Hutton plays. It’s his last year thankfully

Buried a shot in OT but an unnecessary penalty negated it and led to a Vancouver win.. love my Sabres, think they still have a shot at playoffs, but it's funny as hell when bad plays negate Eichel's awesomeness.

Prove an opinion? Prove MacK is better. PROVE it.

It's not something one can have an opinion on. One player absolutely is better than the other. A person can be either correct about it, or incorrect about it. But it won't be an opinion.

Ok prove MacK is better. It should be easy then since you say its not an opinion. I will wait for your proof.

MacK has pretty much hit his ceiling. Eichel has not. He is just getting there and his is dominating in multiple offensive advanced stats from d zone exits, o zone entries, puck possession and others.

He is not even reached his peak and he is leading.

Anyone who has watched Eichel the last 3-4 years can see it.

To be clear, Mack’s ceiling is pacing with McDavid and competing for Harts. So that’s kinda the pinnacle of the sport right now.
