Jack Edwards needs to be stopped.

Abused your power, eh? It's fellow HFer's like you that caused an entire fanbase to leave this site.
I feel horrible about it even the Leafs and Canadiens fans I drove away.

I resigned in disgrace

Yeah, it's called broadcast journalism. :sarcasm:

People take everything way too seriously IMO, I was just commentating the other day how I found the Avs announcers hilarious because they are so over the top.
I can't believe I just had to inform multiple people that being a play-by-play commentator is actually considered "Journalism" lol. It's really not that big of a deal to me personally, but it was just funny that I was literally getting quoted with people telling me that he's not a 'journalist'.

and yet you sit and watch him..................
No I don't. I stream every game online and I will almost always pick the out-of-market broadcast. However, I actively avoid NESN broadcasts so I don't have to listen to that nincompoop. Also, as an aside, if I ever hear Brickley say "Pahhh-stuh-nahhhhk" one more time I might actually rupture my own ear drums. lol, that's gotta be the most annoying name to hear in a Boston accent.

I mean, he's not exactly wrong. And I could see why he or Bruins fans would be frustrated with the refs throughout the game.

That's a good one, but I still hear "WHEE-lah!" to this day.

I'm confident that Edwards' reaction to the refs stopping the play for McQuaid taking a puck to the throat was very different.

I respect your opinions because I've noticed you as one of the most levelheaded and non-biased people on these boards since I've joined, but I really thing that the angle he fell at is what slid him into Johnson's path, he may have extended his body to make contact but i don't think the original intent was to take him out.
thank you for the compliment and i still think marchand's thing was intentional.

Who cares if it is the first time he has done something like this. Change the channel. Watch it/stream it on a different network. Or did you not watch it live and are just getting worked up over a youtube clip?

First time huh? Shows how much you've followed hockey and listened to Jack Edwards

Stay classy Jackie

Didn't a Boston player take a puck to the face and the play was called dead. What did he have to say about that??

McQuaid took a puck to the throat, causing an instant whistle because the refs felt it was serious enough. A puck to the throat is a potential life threatening injury and McQuaid left the game.

Johnsson fell to the ice after getting his ankles taken out from. The refs didn't feel like it was a serious injury so no whistle was blown right away, giving him the chance to get back to the bench under his own power, which is where he was heading when the refs decided to blow the play dead for some reason as the Bruins gained the zone. Johnsson came back later in the period.

Huge difference.

Bruins were lucky not to get a penalty there. I don’t get the fuss about blowing the whistle. They got off easy.

What the hell on God's green Earth makes you think Jack Edwards is an independent journalist? He's a PBP guy, hired by NESN, which is owned in part by the Bruins. He's about as much a journalist as the Sham Wow guy.
And equally annoying!

I kinda like Jack, but his shtick does get pretty old and after 7 or 8 years it's kind of tired.

As a leafs fan i would take Edwards caling the game 100 times out of 100 over the sportsnet guys homerism and all, hes knowledgeable, entertaining and in this case hilarious. By the way its not like cbc and sportsnet arent huge homers for Canadian teams as much as most fanbases like to insist otherwise.

This is 100% nonsense. Like, first day new fan kinda nonsense.

I can barely make out what’s being said because the guys we get have a mouth full of Bruins ****. Or Pens, or whoever since Simpson and Hughson are both known fans of west coast teams. Even the panels tend to overly criticize the Leafs so they don’t get accused of being homers.

Our one homer is on the radio, and he’s not nearly as delusional as Edwards.

When Play Stopped Because of McQuaid: "Good whistle by the officials, nice call" - Jack Edwards

Johnsson Stoppage: "Oh my! Why! Why! Why was the F&&&ing play stopped??!?!" - Jack Edwards

The homerism gets to a point where it's like listening to a 5 year old throw a tantrum till he gets what he wants..

I can't believe some Bruins' fans are justifying him for him being happy for the McQuaid stoppage but mad for the Johnsson stoppage. Blatant homerism, stop ignoring it.

“And who has more fun than us?”

He is an extremely emotional and passionate Bruins fan, and he does cross the line at times. It may not bother some Boston fans, but the guy is over the top and unprofessional when he does this kind of stuff. I don’t mind homers, but have some self control ya goof.

I personally hate his shtick, but to apply journalistic ethics to him is absurd. He's a commentator for the station paid to cover the Bruins and owned by the same entity.
