According to who? According to what rule? I fully expect PBP guys who are calling games on their local channels to be biased. It is when games are televised nationally that commentators need to reign it in.
To answer your first two questions: According to the Society of Professional Journalism one of the most important obligations for journalism in general is "To act independently", and without conflict of interest... Commentating for a team that you have a clear conflict of interest with shatters the whole idea of avoiding COI.

It's kind of a basic of sports journalism that you're not supposed to proclaim yourself a fan of your particular team and that you're meant to remain impartial. When a sports commentator proclaims (or makes it obvious) that they're a fan of one team or another it makes them lose a degree of credibility.

I EXPECT them to be biased as well, because they ARE. But that doesn't mean it's a good thing.

Honestly, I'd prefer every commentator in the league to be from out-of-market with zero connection to their team.

Who cares if it is the first time he has done something like this. Change the channel. Watch it/stream it on a different network. Or did you not watch it live and are just getting worked up over a youtube clip?
He's going to say stupid shit whether I'm watching or not. lol. The fact that I can watch it elsewhere (I always do, I avoid the NESN broadcast at all costs), is irrelevant.

1 problem sunshine...play by play announcers are NOT journalists. they are entertainers.

their job is to describe the action of the game in an entertaining manner for the enjoyment of the viewing audience.

This isn't journalism.

On one hand I hope Toronto loses this series so all their fans on this site are upset, but on other hand hearing a sad jack edward's would be just as good

Well if this is how to typically engage with people it's probably best that you're not.

I'm insecure because I don't like Jack Edwards and commented that I don't like Jack Edwards on a post that is about Jack Edwards doing something negative? Okay.... Get off your high horse. YOU attacked ME before I even knew you existed.

Anyway... if you think that me calling out the fact that you spammed your way to a 47k post count is an "attack" then maybe you shouldn't post spammy comments. lol

Someone took the bait

He thinks he's smarter than he is tbh or just that everyone else not associated with the bruins are whining diving little bitches

What the hell on God's green Earth makes you think Jack Edwards is an independent journalist? He's a PBP guy, hired by NESN, which is owned in part by the Bruins. He's about as much a journalist as the Sham Wow guy.

Jack Edwards strikes again. This time featuring his heartless soul, no feelings for the players on the opposite team at all. He needs to be stopped. Oh my god.

They shouldve blown it when Toronto had it, not when Boston got it back.

I actually think he's a good commentator, he's entertaining. Sure, he's a huge homer in most aspects but he still makes good and exciting calls for the opposing team and gives them credit.

There's no way you can tell me that at the very least Pittsburgh and Florida call a better game than Boston. It's objectively not true
i think they do. edwards just spends most of the time going off topic and saying a bunch of random shit and then gets excited when bruins do something good. the knock i have with pittsburgh's and florida's are the voices. they are so annoying.
