Jeanneret was always over the top, but I think it always came from an extreme excitement and love for his team's success, especially when they scored - "May Day!. Harmless unless the Sabres scored against your team but even then still harmless, just frustrating in the moment. Edwards is different - loves his team, sure, but has no issue calling out opponent team players as faking injuries, "Get up!!" calls, etc. If he was actually a Bruin player coming up with that stuff on the ice some of his teammates would very likely take him aside. And if he kept it up it would be tough to defend when other teams had had enough. Not saying PBP is held to the same standards as the conduct of an NHL pro, but I think it speaks to the fact that many hockey players and fans think that he's an utter nincompoop.
