Jack Edwards being Jack Edwards

I have to thank Jack Edwards for educating me on how a bunch of Americans tipped the English King's tea in the ocean. I'm glad that he was able to use this historical point as a 'Ra Ra' moment while the Bruins played a French team that plays in a French province to which sometimes wants as much to do with the Monarchy as Edwards does.

It was a wild soliloquy, no doubt, but the connection he was making was that the Habs were hockey royalty and the Bruins were "the little guy" standing up to that royalty.

Still silly, but that's where he was going.

I think the best part of this sequence was imagining the leafs trying to play either of these teams in a seven game series.

Haha, as a Bruins fan these are moments that I enjoy Jack Edwards.

I don’t enjoy the whining over non-calls, pushing narratives in games that don’t exist... pretty much all the other moments.

God bless Brickley for putting up with him all these years.

I find it funny that fans on this board will complain that the NHL doesn't have enough personality and then turn around and rip someone like Jack Edwards who has personality to spare. Yeah, he's a super homer who says crazy and outrageous things but he's clearly passionate about his job and I think the occasional face-palm-inducing quote is a small price to pay for the energy and enthusiasm he brings to his broadcasts every night. And as much flak as he gets for being a homer, no one seems to acknowledge that he has no problem calling great plays by opposing teams with the same sort of enthusiasm; a good example from yesterday's game would be his thunderous, over-the-top call when Vasilevskiy stonewalled Pastrnak on a potentially game-tying breakaway.

At the end of the day, the NHL is supposed to be entertainment and Jack Edwards is entertaining as hell. Heck, I'm of the opinion that NHL broadcasts could use more commentary along the likes of Edwards and guys like Rick Jeanneret, Mike Lange, Joe Bowen and Tom Larscheid, than the bland, safe vanilla commentary provided by the likes of Jim Hughson and Craig Simpson (pretty much every Sportsnet commentator actually).

So the Bruins home announcer has a bias towards the Bruins? Color me shocked.
As a B's fan I love him, calls a great game & has solid info on the other teams. Sure he goes overboard & gets jacked up here and there but there's a lot more boring commentators in the game that make you want to fall asleep.

Watch a Sportsnet game with the Leafs playing some American team, you barely even know there's another team on the ice.

born and raised here and my brothers and I still cringe at that one, we still laugh our a$ses off at it. He’s clearly nuts but even I mute him sometimes. What I find even funnier than Edwards is how many people here have their undies in bunch over a freaking broadcaster! New invention people, it’s called the mute button.

It's one thing to be biased, it's another thing to be so biased you invent narratives of what's happening on the ice.

He's just so dumb and so wrong every broadcast. I don't know how anyone can respect the truth and their own intelligence and still like Jack Edwards.

Top 3 play by play commentator in the league among Buffalo's old guy and Washington's Ovechkin scores -guy.

If you actually get annoyed by his love for Boston you take life too seriously.

The ones who actually suck are Florida's and Vegas' commentators. Their voice simply doesn't fit for that job.

I love how every punch a Bruin throws is connecting and whenever someone swingsback he calls it a miss 9 times out of 10. Also think its hilarious when Chara ends up on his back wrestling around half the time and Edwards has nothing to say at all. That was cringeworthy to watch

Jack Edwards is hilarious. I can't believe anyone takes him seriously and actually gets upset by the things he says at this point.

Yup. Not taking him serious is the correct way to listen to him.

In the end I really think Jack is a true hockey fan, but his absurd rants are just part of the charter in my opinion.

No.

Edwards is bad. Jeff Rimmer is bad here in Columbus, but Edwards is terrible.

Ya someone has a different opinion than yours, they must be wrong.

I watch games and listen to announcers from every team, most are equal when it comes to being opinionated towards the home team, and rightfully so.

Obviously not many on here have listened to sportsnet when the are calling home games, be it for the Leafs, Habs or Flames and so on and so one. Buffalo is terrible but no where near as bad as the Pens, by far the worse of any team, I won’t even turn on the TV to watch them and I love watching hockey regardless of who is playing.

Solution is not difficult, if Jack Edwards bothers you so much, turn the volume down or turned your TV off, it is not rocket science.
