This guy costs $130 bucks against our cap, and we can pick him up at any number of Canadian tires
He has his weaknesses. But it’s time

ITS THE WOKE culture- nice guy, happy go lucky, weak, soft etc like his gm and president.

I agree, said the same thing after our exit against the Habs last year

Most teams would have moved on from Campbell already, but not here because he's a swell guy who had mental issues for most of his career

Maybe one day Dubas' dream of appearing on The View will come true

He's constantly looking behind on most shots

How an NHL team can continue playing a guy who looks scared shitless out there is beyond me

For half the season now, he's had this very James Reimer like way of just letting in enough weird goals where it seems like a weird bounce or not his fault, and also momentum backbreakers which Andrew Raycroft was kind of famous for.

He's had a really good run of games from the stretch drive last season to the first couple of months this year, but I don't know if you bring him back.

More likely we get rid of Campbell and Mrazek and just go shopping for 2x new guys. Either a platoon again or a pricier starter and a more cost effective backup. Management can't be making these huge gambles on such critical positions and hope to contend. It's got to be rock solid and a source of team confidence. It's foundational stuff.

Campbell was actually solid in the seven games against the Habs in the first round last season. He was the least of their issues in the playoffs, absolute least.

This season though, he's been terrible since December 1st. I don't know if it's because of a mental issue with him, but he has terrible confidence. I don't have to know the guy personally to see that. He plays scared. Watch a team shoot on him and how often he looks back after he makes a save. He's playing with no confidence, playing scared, leading to bad rebounds ala the first goal against and many others the last three months.

At first I thought it was a bad stretch, every player/goaltender goes through it. It's been 13 weeks since he's played at even an average pace.

He wasn't the issue last season, but is this season, Mrazek is just as bad, if not worse. Our defense is awful, but the goaltending is equally bad, if not worse.

Defensive issues and goaltending issues can't be solved at the deadline. Even if they pick up a goaltender, they have no one to back him up. Either they blow their load on another D or a goaltender, they won't be able to afford both. I love Lyubushkin, but he isn't gonna solve their defensive woes. Not when they have Dermott, Sandin, Liljigren, Holl and mostly Muzzin playing awfully.

It's gonna be a one and done first round for the Leafs. They can't outscore their problems like they did in January.

He needs a phantom IR stint, similar to how they do in baseball. Go work with Imoo for a couple weeks, get a refresh and come back. Just try anything to get him back on his game at this point.

Maybe give Kallgren a shot.

lol this topic about Campbell from late last year goes to show how crazy this place can be:

Tribute - Jack Campbell Discussion

No, it's how crazy Jack Campbell's ups and downs have been. When you produce Vezina caliber goaltending, people react very positively. When you're routinely letting in 5 goals a game, people take notice as well. There really shouldn't be a balanced take on Campbell specifically because he's always battled with big ups and downs in his career.

Realistically, we got more than what we should have expected out of Campbell. Trevor Moore for a few months of Vezina caliber goaltending? That is a steal.

The real problem though, is the team doesn't pick him up when he is down. Carolina carried a f***ing zamboni driver to a victory by working their asses off, the Leafs would have pissed in his water bottle and blamed him for the loss.

The problem goes well beyond Campbell and no goalie will find success here with how horrible the team is run. Same issues every year but new scapegoats. It's not a surprise no goalie has has success in 20 f***ing years.

yeah, for one game. The Leafs have done that plenty of times for Campbell, just not every time. Give Carolina 3 months of David Ayres and it would look a lot more like this

Ayres also had a 2 goal lead, then CAR scored on the PP that they got for the charge on Mrazek. So it was 3 goals before we even got a real look at him. In the 6 minutes left in the period after that goal, he gave up 2 goals and we were within one.

Of course, Andersen gives up a goal in the first minute and another 3 minutes later, and that was it. Another sub .900 performance from our starter.

Our goaltending seems to pop up a lot in these embarrassing losses. The good news is that, unlike in the past, our team works really hard to work our way back from those efforts this year. We don't just fold up like the CAR game.

We haven't had too many poor efforts this season. Maybe a few at the beginning, and then a few like the MTL/BUF games, but we have been dragging league-worst goaltending for months and yet have gone on major win streaks and one of the top records in the league in spite of that.

This team deserves top ten goaltending, and Campbell doesn't even need to be amazing to be a top ten goalie behind this team. He just needs to do his job, and maybe bail us out once in a while, and he is there. Heck, even when he was putting up a .940, he was not making a bunch of saves to bail us out. He just didn't let up weak rebounds or soft goals, and he made a few excellent saves. That is all it took with how well we have played this year.

Well that ups going to be a big swing when he's taking us past the first round this year, for the first time in FOREVER.

All of you, pile on me, take it off Jack, I'll bet the whole account, not worth much since the doubles ads on-top and bottom have started, this place is becoming a joke with ads.

Nope, live by the sword, die by the sword, Jack Campbell is a good goalie. You shall see. There will be no trade before the deadline for a goaltender.
