No. It's dependant on which category you fit into, not which category the signing team fits into. Jays don't get revenue sharing(receiver pick between rounds 1 and 2), nor did they go over the luxury tax(receive pick between round 4 and 5) so they get a pick between 2 and 3 which is everyone else

Happy for Semien he got PAID!! Dude had an unbelievable year for Toronto and his impact will be felt on the young players for a while.

With that said I’m also glad the Jays held firm because that is an albatross contract, I don’t want to be paying $25 mil to a 38 year old Semien

I can't be mad at Semien, he came to us for one year to establish his value, and gave us an MVP caliber year and a Comp pick while leaving. He definitely earned the right to set himself up financially with his last chance at a big pay day. He owed us nothing more than he gave us which was a lot.

The Mets would give up the 14th pick, but we wouldn't receive it. The pick a team gives up is just removed and one is added to give to losing team. In our case, between rounds 2 and 3.
