Is MLB's pending lockout the quietest sports lockout ever considering it is just a few days away? I know it's been talked about, but if it were any other CBA, it'd be talked about as Armageddon in the months leading up to it (such as NHL's). My vantage point at least.

Mlb is the slowest at everything. Need to approve on a number of things

"Danner’s recent showing at the Blue Jays’ fall instructional camp – when he sat 98-99 m.p.h. with his fastball and touched 100 for the first time – helped cement his spot on the 40-man roster, an indicator of near-term big-league potential. Perhaps more important than the velocity jump is that he spent time inside the Blue Jays’ pitching lab at the Dunedin complex and worked with staff there to develop a slider “that's probably going to be my favourite pitch.”

There's the reason why he was added to the 40-man....

the last 2 off seasons have been eerily similar. its like a game of chicken but in the last 2 we have been the first to get big deals done . it is too quiet . no rumors what so ever no players linking teams to names . its odd. maybe that lockout looming is causing more concern then some thought it initially would. there has been some banter about a cap or something like . which the players are not to thrilled with

The issue is Biggo has been miscast as this all of the field utility player. He is not the guy for that job. He is not a 3B or an outfielder. If they just leave him at 2B for the rest of his career I think he would actually thrive and could stop learning other positions and just work on his bat.

If he can stay healthy I think we see improvement next year.

That being said, I would not rely on him to be an everyday player unless it means we spent big money or prospects to fill the 3B and pitching holes.

Pretty much agree with all of this. As much as I want Semien back, I think the best move is to make a big 3B addition, have Biggio at 2B, and Espinal as the utility guy.

Ya.I hopes he can start hitting. I think he was hurt quite a bit last year. Do you see him being an everyday 2B though?

At 2nd base I think Biggio is an above average everyday player.

As Discover said above. The best course for the team is to get a 3B.

Yeah you don't need to have an all star level player at every position on the infield. You go and trade for someone like Chapman. If our infield is Chapman-Bichette-Biggio/Espinal-Vlad next year, that is one of the best infields in baseball. Straight up.

I share the same opinion as most. Its 2B or bust for Biggio. Having him learn different positions has stunt his development.

As pointed out, in his first 159 MLB games (all of 2019 and 2020), he had a 5bWAR or 3.7 fWAR and a 116 OPS+ or a 117 wRC+.

If he does that again in 2022 at 600k you are laughing. If he regresses to a 2-2.5 WAR player you are still happy with that because the average fWAR for an MLB 2B starter was;

2021: 2.9
2020: 2.7 (prorated)
2019: 2.2
2018: 2.2
2017: 2.2

Average is 2. 4 fWAR. So if Cavan regresses to a 2.5 fWAR player you have an average 2B. Not to mention other potential 2B options like Espinal, Smith, Groshans, Orelvis and even Moreno who camp as a SS.

Geez, Cohen took that Matz spurn personally. 3 great players on 3 good to very good contracts.

Of course we love Springer but that Marte contract is much better and shorter. Would have preferred that right about now.

I know not much about Marte, but I'd be concerned about a 33 year old player who has a bunch of value come from his speed.

I normally agree with everything you say, but I disagree with most here, ha. I'd take Springer over Marte rather easily even after nit being healthy last year. The contract has 1 year less and he's 1 year older, so it's essentially the same, and it's $6 million less a season. If Marte is as good next year as this year then it's close. I will take the ceiling with Springer.

Not sure I'd really call Escobar or Canha great players either. They're good and Cunha is a weird fit if they think he can play in their OF.

Never saw this earlier. I would relocate this team to Montreal if these owners are this cheap. Imagine trading Mullens at how cheap he will be still pre-arb. Combine that with how cheap they've been at the draft, feel bad for Orioles fans.
