Some really good names on this list.

Tulsky as the GM, Ventura as an AGM, and Mike Sullivan as a AGM with a new coach could be a winning combination.
I wish! Sam Ventura is already the assistant GM in Buffalo and they are a team that is on the path so I don't think he will leave Buffalo unless he was unhappy there or was offered GM? Tulsky is the #1 pick, and may leave to be the GM here, but if he is such a good up and coming future GM wouldn't he want to wait for the perfect situation, or maybe the plan in Carolina is for him to take over eventually? There are 8 names on that list other than Ventura/Tulsky, and bringing in one of them as part of our front office may be even more attainable.

Ok…from another poster on another site: first paragraph is DK and remainder are TIOPS…I know everyone has been waiting for TIOPS lol…

--It is sounding like the Penguins are leaning towards a more experienced GM (retread). I think Taylor the other day said she seemed to think the buzz was that, they are not being very forward thinking or rebuild-minded in this search...they are still of the mindset of getting a GM that builds to WIN NOW.

--TIOPS wonders how long Penguins will wait on Dubas. I don't think there is anything that prevents a team from asking to interview now, but it doesn't appear likely...so if the Leafs advance, does that put Dubas out for Pittsburgh? TIOPS also claims that the Devils are reportedly so enamored with Dubas becoming available that they may even be willing to move on from Tom Fitzgerald if Dubas becomes available.

--TIOPS says he believes Shero is interested more in Pens GM job now than a potential hockey ops position in Philly. Doug Wilson, Peter Chiarelli, and Stan Bowman were also known to have interest. Says Brad Treliving is currently not pursuing and likely taking a year off, but if Penguins came to him he would at least likely listen.

--TIOPS claimed FSG has talked to Pat Brisson for some advising. Brisson is not putting his name into the mix, but he could offer up some potential candidates for FSG to look at.

--Finally, TIOPS says Mike Gillis is still a dark horse. While he is more interested in a president of hockey ops role, Penguins/FSG are reportedly getting strong recommendations, and there is a connection between Sullivan and Gillis.

Pens reporters had no sources within old management, I certainly dont think they know anyone within FSG. Also as far as I know, with their other teams FSG has been "forward thinking" in their management choices. I'd be downright shocked if they picked bums like Chiarelli or Bowman.

Also do reporters get paid to mention certain names lol? For the last ten years Gillis is brought up everytime theres an opening. Same with Chiarelli.

Only one I’ll maybe believe is DK and ugh, if that’s true, I’m dissapointed. I was looking forward to maybe an outside hire. Maybe that will still happen, who knows

What could possibly be more discouraging than Sullivan remaining as head coach? Bringing back Shero as GM and Sullivan remaining head coach.

Sam is the "VP of Hockey Strategy and Research" not AGM. Not sure what the major differences would be but who knows if Sam wants to put his hat into the acquisition of players after analysis.

I would be okay if Tom Fitzgerald was to come back. I really like the Devils rosters. Took awhile but their drafting has been solid, trades have been really good, and there's been both measured risk and "go for it" moves - Meier and Hamilton.

That said if Shero, Wilson, Chiarelli, Treliving, or Bowman were to get the job, I may check out of "serious fan" club and subscribe to the "causal fan" club which includes far less commitment and far less stress.

I tried not to read that latest mailbag by Yohe, never a good time with how awful the Pens writers are which show clear bias to being corporate shills.

But at one point he goes the GM surrounded the vets with more vets and I don't get how this bloke doesn't have the bollocks to state O'Connor being utilized solely on the 4th line and sparingly on the third line mostly with Carter. Or that it took him near the end of the season to give Nylander a chance. Or the youth that were called up were solely used in 4th line duty and the Pens drafted prospect with potential wasn't even called upon once while leading wbs in pts - Puustinen.

He barely wanted to use Ty Smith. Preferred Ruhwedel over Friedman. And countless other moments he used vets over youth. And somehow after 5 seasons of this it's on the shoulders of 1 gm. Somehow affecting this team 3yrs before his arrival.

No interest in bringing Shero back, his first act would be probably brining back Bylsma and making Craig Adams head scout.

Bylsma actually learned from his idiocy after being humbled for a few years. This team is shit anyways and has been for 5 seasons. Not just this last season. Sullivan is being told it's everyone else that's the problem not him. He's being enabled and told none of this is his fault.

If bringing Shero back gets Sully fired, f*** it. I'm in.

Stan “the let’s just pretend nothing happened man” Bowman being involved with our org would make me violently f***ing puke.

Sadly given the shitty human beings we’ve foolishly employed over the years, I could see him coming here.

Hell they’d probably try and spin a feel-good narrative if he does….

:help:

In that mailbag, Yohe also stated the failure of the powerplay is on the players and not coach. He absolves Sullivan from quite literally everything. It’s wild.

Yeah, the Fitzgerald bit is the only "retread" I'd even be remotely interested in. Agree he's done some really positive things in NJ.

I don’t know why anyone would be getting flustered over any names coming out of local media. They’ve proven time and time again that they cannot break real news from the team.

I’m pretty sure nobody had JR connected to the Pens until like 5 mins before the introductory press conference.
ABSOLUTELY

We've been discussing the GM, but what we really need is a strong front office. Nowadays, it's not just one hockey man running the show. Lets try and hire one or two of these names:
  • Eric Tulsky: He's highly regarded and has a great reputation, but some hockey people may not respect him for being a bit of a "nerdier" guy. I'm not sure if Carolina would be willing to let him go.
  • Sam Ventura: He's very intelligent and has connections to Pittsburgh. I'm not sure if he has what it takes to be a GM or if he's just an analytics guy.
  • Alexandra Mandryck: She's very smart and well-liked, and she would be the first female GM. But would she do well in the role?
  • Jeff Greenberg: He's a unique outsider who currently works for the Chicago Blackhawks but comes from the MLB. He has connections to Mario Lemieux, but I'm not sure if he has enough experience in hockey.
  • Zac Urback: He's a younger guy with a good reputation. Friedman brought up his name on 31 Thoughts, but questioned if he was too young to be a GM.
  • Arik Parnass: Won the cup last year. Another young analytics guy who was mentioned on Friedman's podcast, but like Urback, he may be too young.
  • Tyler Dellow: He's extremely smart, but not well-liked. He's not a good ambassador.
  • Matt Cane: He's a nice and smart guy, but he seems more like an analytics guy than a GM.
  • Cam Lawrence: He's a smart guy, but he's not really a hockey guy. Some articles have been pushing his name, but I'm not sure if he's the right fit for the role because there was a lot of issues when he was involved with Florida.
  • Meghan Chayka: She's controversial and has never worked in the NHL, but she runs an analytics company. It's hard to say if she has the necessary qualifications for the job.

This article includes Brandon Pridham. He is a CBA expert first and foremost, and he has been Dubas right hand man in Toronto so must be analytical.
