Not if the mandate shifts. It’s a really easy job compared to some markets, honestly. There isn’t immense pressure to win, you just need to give the core a chance. And you won’t be fired if the team tanks because the core performance drops off.
Can't wait to draft the next ZAR.They mentioned Sullivan will be involved with the draft. Wonder if he gets kicked upstairs lol
"We think he's awesome! New GM can evaluate staff as they see fit. But MIke Sullivan is freakin great!"
Hahaha here was their response to asking if Sullivan would be coach next year:
"We think Mike is terrific. It will be up to the new hockey ops to make a decision, but we think Mike is terrific"
Aka they're not going to hire a GM that's going to fire Sullivan.
Yeah literally what they said. What a joke.
I would have rather NOT gotten Granlund, and left it at Bonino/Kulikov. I think that would have gone over better, even though not desirable.Obviously shows the disconnect coaching and GM had on the team. The window is getting smaller every year and Hextall while it looked like he tried to make runs at both Chyrchrun and JT Miller he didnt get the job done and we ended up with Granlund. Not too aspiring for an aging Geno, Letang, Crosby.
He didnt make any moves to put this team in position to run and thats on him.
The direction is obvious as it should be
Yes, but there was smoke about the decisons being made on grabbing guys at the TDL as well. Sounded like Sully was all in and Hextall, while throwing his hat it wasn't willing to go all in.I would have rather NOT gotten Granlund, and left it at Bonino/Kulikov. I think that would have gone over better, even though not desirable.
I would have rather risked on a 26 year old Brock Boeser if it came down to taking risks.
or...
Even a young sub 25 year needing a change of scenery.
*edit*
As for the coach stroking...
Ownership does not make the coaching decision, that's up to the GM. They will say everybody is great and let the GM decide otherwise.
Any cliffs notes on this? A bunch of rubbish id imagine View attachment 688526
Find someone who looks at you the entirely opposite way HandshakeLine looks at sports journos. The only thing Brown looks like he goes down on is an entire key lime pie. Just unhinge the jaw and straight down the gullet like a snake.
I agree, but that won't happen before xmas. If it had to happen before the season, it would have happened today.I think our new GM let’s Sullivan go. No matter what is being said for business reasons, they can’t possibly take the third time is a charm route. He’s blown up two GM’s so far: if the new GM keeps him the they both deserve to go.
Yohe just sounds bitter because Hextall never gave him any crumbs. He gets good soundbites from Sullivan so wont dare speak ill against him.
The best part about Hextall getting fired is that the dolt Pittsburgh media will not just blame him for every problem going forward.
That’s fine. I don’t exactly mind mid season changes. I like the extra push it provides.I agree, but that won't happen before xmas. If it had to happen before the season, it would have happened today.
Just watch, the team will make the conference finals next year on the backs of the core/better goaltending and Sullivan will cement his job for the next decade.
