Sully wasn't getting fired. I don't know how that's a surprise to some.

not surprised…just hoping with how the team performed, or didn’t perform, that someone at FSG would recognize that he’s part of the problem, not part of the solution

Hahaha here was their response to asking if Sullivan would be coach next year:

"We think Mike is terrific. It will be up to the new hockey ops to make a decision, but we think Mike is terrific"

Aka they're not going to hire a GM that's going to fire Sullivan.

Yeah literally what they said. What a joke.
It's not great but filtering by corporate double talk coaching being up to new hockey ops is encouraging. If you asked these guys yesterday what they thought of Burke and Hextall they'd probably say they're terrific too. Because that's how you do meaningless corporate talk.

The owners are saying the right things but nothing will change if they let their love for Sullivan cloud their judgement.

We'll know soon enough. It could be corporate doublespeak, obviously they are not going to shit on Sullivan while he's still employed. It seems to me to just be a bad business look to hire a new GM while immediately strapping them to an existing coach and if there's one thing FSG should not **** up it's business.

They're not going to tell us their actual position ever. All about positivity and bs even after they've fired the front office. If the new GM has coaching control like they've now said, that's about the best we can hope for here. I think it's premature for everyone here to think Sully will pick his GM.

Imagine not winning a playoff series in 5 years and your bosses still stroke you off
Not even just Sully, his entire coaching staff. What the **** has Todd Reirden done to deserve anything other than shame and ridicule? The PP is horrible. The D sucks. The only upgrade from last year is he finally realized nobody bought his 4 hair strand combover and gave it up.

Leaving it up to the new GM is the best I could hope for. Sullivan seems to have the entire hockey world hypnotized, so I don't expect him to be fired, but letting the new GM make that call probably is the right way to do things.

Obviously shows the disconnect coaching and GM had on the team. The window is getting smaller every year and Hextall while it looked like he tried to make runs at both Chyrchrun and JT Miller he didnt get the job done and we ended up with Granlund. Not too aspiring for an aging Geno, Letang, Crosby.

He didnt make any moves to put this team in position to run and thats on him.

The direction is obvious as it should be

Yes everybody is blinded to him & 75% of this board are the only people who see his overwhelming faults

I'm not worried about this talk re: Sully. GMs are typically given a mandate to hire/fire coaching staff. The new GM/front office will evaluate and I think the betting odds are on them replacing Sully.
