Also the fact that like every other source specially named Mario as the one who reached out to Burke and offered him the job.

No no see... that was a plot cooked up by the evil mustachioed-twisting Morehouse! It was all a brilliant ruse!

He planted the seeds of deception and watered them with the tears of Penguins fans, Dude!

I personally think the supposed Rossi/Malkin connection is largely bunk.

Look they certainly have more access than like... you and me. But if these guys want to be taken seriously they need to actually... you know... deliver something that isn't clickbait garbage more than once a calendar year. Maybe actually get in on some breaking Penguins news faster than hours before national guys talk about it. That would be a good start.
It's well-documented that Rossi is working with Malkin. That's not bunk.

As for breaking news, every local reporter has that issue in sports. Practically every NFL signing/trade gets broken by the likes of Adam Schefter. Agents and those in the know use the national reporters as leverage in exchange for information.

I think the issue with Rossi/Yohe is that they have blended analysis, opinion and traditional reporting, largely because that's sort of what The Athletic wants. And they were over the top with some of their columns/opinions.

Their opinions and analysis can be hyperbolic, but when they take the time to be reporters and stick to facts/interviews, they have solid connections to reveal interesting information.

According to who... Rossi?

I'll believe it when I see the book. And it's not some trashy soap opera tell-all.

As for the rest I guess I'll just have to say that respectfully I'm very confused as to why anyone would ever go to bat for Rossi/Yohe. They are bad actors and have proven to be over and over again.

After reading the part where Hextall and Burke allegedly watched Penguins' practices alone with the blinds drawn (as befitting of their supervillain status, I guess) I could no longer take that article seriously. The bias is so obvious that it makes you wonder if any facts are reported with journalistic integrity or with the usual spin of the authors.

Also, Hextall sucked but I highly doubt he intended to make Jeff Carter a second line center in 2022-2023.

Last but not least:
He [Sullivan] might as well have been the Winter Classic’s unofficial mayor during the Penguins’ three days in Boston.
Yohe and Rossi might as well be open about it and start an official cult of Sully.

Rossi just knows he’ll get clicks if mentioning the boogey man.
The public origin of the story of Mario reaching out to Burke was Morehouse. I just went back to check. It's mentioned in this Pierre LeBrun story.

But it was Lemieux himself, as Penguins CEO David Morehouse revealed Tuesday, who suggested that they approach Burke about joining in a POHO capacity (an idea which they also ran through owner Ron Burkle). The Penguins had already been using Burke as a sounding board on GM candidates.

Well regardless I'm glad that Moreon was finally defeated at last when Evgeniwise forced Crosbo to toss the One Puck into the tire fires of McKeesport or whatever. Dodged a bullet there.

I think there’s a real story to tell there but it has to be by someone who’s not Rossi. Everything he writes is so melodramatic and exaggerated it makes you stop and wonder if his notes on team practice is about hockey or porn. The man was born for selling ice cream and writing saucy Tumblr fan fics after hours before becoming the Riddler.

That Rossi and Yohe article might be the biggest load of bullshit I've ever laid eyes on and I've seen literal loads of bull shit here in Vietnam.

The amount of fabricated idiocy shitting out of their mouths to their finger tips on the athletic might be impressive for how innately stupid their entire narrative is and the morons that believed a single word deserve this joke of a current state this franchise is in.

What a f***ing travesty this entire franchise has become allowing these two morons to represent their voice in any way shape or form.

Their pathetic narrative is obvious.

Rossi is the only one who has interviewed Malkin repeatedly in Russia. That doesn't happen without access.

What makes it bullshit? How do you - or any of us - know what is fact and what is fiction?

Lmao, jesus christ...

You f***ing new?

I wonder what Yohe and Rossi's excuse for Sully will be if he keeps on failing under a new GM. Mercury retrograde?

Basic precedent? They do this over and over again?

How do YOU? Have they suddenly changed and now they don't peddle obvious half-truths and often full-lies? Because that's been their MO for a while.

Like @Turin said... there is certainly a story there. But I'm not getting the details from those clowns.

A similar hit piece came out from the Flyers media regarding these weirdly secretive practices of Hextall.

I agree with you tho. That piece read like an amateur trying to redo the Russo Fenton piece.

Oh I have no doubt Hextall is a weirdo.

Hell you'd think I'd WANT to believe this piece. Like IC said it reads like HF fanfic.

But it's also amateurish and obviously baiting. I'm sure there are real nuggets in there but it's so tainted by toxic sludge that I'm not fishing around in it.

Yohe writing about Sullivan is like all those teenage girls writing Twilight fanfiction about Robert Pattison. It's borderline weird.

What’s the last legit scoop Rossi or Yohe have had? Rossi getting a scoop on JR’s endorsement for his ice cream parlour?

Evidently it's too much to ask that the supposedly well-connected local writers tasked to cover the local Pittsburgh Penguins actually deliver on any local team news before guys who live a thousand miles away and primarily cover other outlets do.

Personally the big reason I think these dolts were particularly unhinged and whiny this past year had nothing to do with the team struggles and everything to do with being largely locked out of the process because they are... well... hacks. The only thing I approved of from this past FO. Even that crazy old coot JR had them pegged for what they are (even if he was still more than happy to talk to them lol)
