Here
Foligno is UFA, but it gets rid of his cap now. Rumors are Boston has an agreement already with Bertuzzi so maybe they announce that signing soon.

They haven't moved enough. They now have $10, 937,500 in cap space but have to sign 6 forwards and Swayman.
I think people don't grasp how hard it will be for the Bruins to put together a team, considering they are not getting sweetheart deals on Bergeron and Kreijci this time around AND have to pay their differed bonuses.

Signing Bertuzzi will hamper this to the point where I just don't see what they can accomplish next season.

I'd even argue that Carey Price contract killed any chance he had to win a cup. If he had accepted $8M (which is an insane amount as it is) and the extra $2.5M went towards even better defense (UFA) then he'd have cemented his career and legacy.
I understand the objective is to make "as much as possible" but at what point does life become easier on a winning team for 5 years? there is no difference in lifestyle btw $8M and $10M, it's not like $80K v $100K for us commoners. or even $1M v $3M for the ELC guys.
Up until this last PO season, I'd have whole-heartedly agreed with you, and maybe still do somewhere deep inside. But after watching the Bruins punch their ticket to a golf course early on, despite Bergeron leaving money on the table to allow the Bruins to get more pieces in the hopes of win a cup, I am not entirely convinced Price would have a cup had he accepted less money.

This fixation on Dubois is amusing. It would seem that no asset, present or future, is untouchable in this quest for barter. Its almost like a drug.
The entire reason to be interested in Dubois is to get an asset relatively cheaply or free. Hopefully if Winnipeg comes back to Hughes the offer doesn't change or if different it is of similar value. Can't cave and offer more or it will hamper other trade negotiations.

a little ironic that LA acquired the Habs 2nd round pick next year in the Durzi trade. You have to think they deliberately asked for that pick so Montreal can't offer sheet Dubois

It’s like Dubois is a pretty lady, you ask her out « hey beautiful queen would you like to go out with me » … then she say NO and all of the sudden you need to tell her … « you’re such an ugly cow anyway »

The other night during the NBA draft, Shams (insider) was leaking every pick minutes before they were being announced. Except the Raptors. He had nothing.

The Habs are like the Raptors, they don’t leak anything. I don’t think insiders actually know anything with them.
