Vilardi will turn 24 in August. PLD just turned 25 yesterday.
They're trading a center who put 40+ points for a center/winger who put up 60+ points (and has done it twice before that).

Not a chance Dach is far better than either of those 2 and Anderson is similar to Iafallo.

Either way though, I’m not interested in paying fair market value for PLD in a trade. The only reason this was ever enticing was the prospect of getting him on the cheap.
I’d much rather the Habs tank this season than trade for PLD.
Wouldn't they need to dump more players to create Cap Space? Figure 16M for both those guys is probably not far off.

I don't think so. PLD will out produce Vilardi & Iafallo combined. Winnipeg is getting worse.
PLD may play wing with LAKs.
PLD - Kopitar - Kempe
Arvidsson - Danault - Fiala
Moore - Byfield - Kalieyev
Grundstrom - Kupari - Lizottte
Is a pretty deep group. It opens up permanent spots for Byfield, Kalieyev & Kupari too.
PLD is the Kopitar replacement. Kopitar is 36 in August, so he's year to year. His $10m is done next year, and even if he resigns its probably at half that.

I agree that if the Florida pick was a non-playoff pick or 17th OA (had they lost in the 1st or 2nd round), Montreal would probably have a more attractive package.

We dodged a bullet guys. Vilardi ++ is litterally Dach+, and he's 2nd line C that will probably get 8 millions+ (rumor has it he want 9+, crazy).

It's going to be close. If PLD signs for $8.5m, Kings will still have around $4.5m in cap space.
They still need 3D. At average cost of $900,000 that's $2.7m leaving them only $1.8m for a goalie, and right up against the cap.
Their top 4 D is ok. They'll be relying on kids to fill out the bottom pairing, and won't have any depth there for injuries.
They'll have to go bargain hunting on the 2nd goalie.
They'll have a good solid group up front. The D & goaltending is a weak area.
Maybe Danault will ask for a trade instead and we pick him up again for 50% the salary this time

I'm absolutely certain Winnipeg has been seeding the clouds trying to make it rain in the desert. List of 6 teams my ass 4 of them probably had no interest and or no cap. If they pull this deal out of LA I'll be rolling in the aisle. Bergevin and Co bidding against themselves.

I don't see a huge difference from what they have now. It would make more sense to target Helle as they'll never get through Edmonton fighting fire with fire.
