No Michkov and no Dubois would make this one shitty offseason

It looks like Friedman was wrong that it was 95% Montreal. PLD has plenty of interest in other teams.

He's not the type of player you want to give up too much for. So it is what it is. I think we'd have to find a 3rd team that is rebuilding to give a package of futures to, and who would give us a good young NHL player that we'd then flip to Winnipeg for PLD. Konecny? Lindholm?

It looks like they were not prepared to seize an opportunity that was predictable yes.
More like they mostly didn’t want to. They’re not in a position to give picks and young players. They’re in a rebuild, need to do it the right way and not change their plan only because the fans wanted this player who would’ve cost too much in assets and salary.

Can't really blame Winnipeg, that's a decent package going the other way and I'm sure picks might be involved as well. The kings if they pull it off just moved there 7-8-9 best offensive players from last season to make it happen

I think PLD wanted MTL badly, but LA was more willing to bargain.

Their deal structure would likely have been Dach+Anderson for PLD

I'm not sure if I trust pagnotta as a source but the Durzi trade certainly looks like LA are opening up cap. The thing is LA minus Iafallo, Vilardi and Durzi are worse than adding Dubois. I wonder if Bergevin is just trying to spite us.
I honestly don't know why they'd want to part with Vilardi considering his age. I'm aware their center core is aging with Kopitar and Danault, but I feel it would be just smarter to try to put Vilardi at center, or try to put Byfield in a top 6 role.

IMHO, Villardi + Iafallo > Dubois. I don't know why the Kings want to do this.

It's not like Dubois has had success at center either. Vilardi is as much a center as Dubois is.
