What does social media have to do with anything? Do you really believe Caufield and Subban are posting pictures with Dubois to get him more money on his next contract, and do you really think that has any effect on what Hughes does?

What are you going on about? If you don't think Dubois and his agent are trying to create a competition for his services I don't know what else to say.
Where do you think reports come from in terms of what he wants? 8 years, asking for 9m, a list of 6 teams, and then only the Habs and Kings in the running.
Someone is feeding the press and it isn't us. Hughes made an offer last year for Dubois do you think he moved far off that initial offer this year when the only thing that changed is Dubois got one year older? Montreal seem to have zero interest at this point. So why are we still mentioned as a possibilty? Maybe because there is no real huge demand for Dubois at the cost of ready assets and then a long term deal with a high AAV.

The other angle is what we can offer in signing bonus structure. I believe Hintz got $12M total. If we offer $30M+ in the singing bonus structure, we might be able to get that number closer to $8M.

NHL.com has Dubois listed as a LW. Is that why you are comparing him to wingers?

I think the simple matter is, I'd rather have Caufield, Suzuki, Bratt, and Hintz at their salaries than Dubois at an equal salary to each player. You can 'compare' all you want, all four players are better than him and giving him more money is a joke.

I think hockey fans needs to step back from the edge of TNZ levels of obsession. Let players be dudes who can relax during the offseason, not celebrities whose every fart is catalogued.

So the confirmed reports that the Habs had serious discussions with Winnipeg last summer just happened to be after the draft.
Yeah Okay I'll buy that.

You keep spouting the same refrain just because we got Dach it was impossible that HuGo were working a deal for Dubois. You do realize that isn't logical like at all. Trade conversations get initiated before the draft.

Dubois spends his summers in Montreal, him being at the draft doesn't mean he was expecting a trade necessarily IMO.

Why would they trade for Dubois also? They had their guy.

Another forward on top of Slafkovsky and Dach makes no sense. But if it makes you happy to think they wanted to trade for Dubois also at the draft, having a 2nd trade, go for it lol.

Are you purposely being obtuse? You are now contradicting yourself. Why would they trade for Dubois indeed. So why were they in serious discussions with the Jets after the fact which it had to be if it wasn't before like you claim. Maybe HuGo can't multi task. :help:

Getting Dubois by trading Anderson does not make sense at all. Dvorak maybe. I doubt this happens. If they trade for Dubois it is to play with Anderson.

How am i contradicting myself? I asked why would they trade for Dubois when they had Slafkovsky and Dach locked.

At this point no one can even be sure they were in conversation with the jets at that time.

If we have competition for PLD, then I think an equivalent value if Anderson is part if the package, otherwise what do we offer ? Anyway, we should be trying to move up in the draft in my view, PLD comes 2nd.
