When did Tampa and the Avs win cups? When most of their core was in the age 25-30 range.

You just listed random names and it holds no value because you have to spend more than 10 min's in research bud.

Post more recent examples in the salary cap era. Start there. Go look up the core age ranges for the last 10-15 cup winners.
By the time Montreal is competing for a cup, Dubois won't be in that age range, Caulfield and Suzuki might be. if you want to discuss things, don't just shut down the conversation because it doesn't suit your agenda and dismiss numbers that require no interpretation of wishful thinking.

According to information relayed by Marco Normandin and shared by Ken Wiebe, a well-informed journalist covering the Winnipeg Jets, the Los Angeles Kings could be willing to offer a very promising prospect like Quinton Byfield or Gabe Vilardi, as well as a solid defenseman in Sean Durzi , with the aim of acquiring Pierre-Luc Dubois.

wow! It's a huge proposition!

IN WINNIPEG:
- Quinton Byfield (2nd overall pick in 2020) OR Gabe Vilardi (41 points in 63 games this year)
- Sean Durzi (38 points in 72 games this season)
for
PLD
Go LA, it's the bargain bin effect. With him around everyone gets stupid.

Where did I say that? I said they also will be hitting their peak at 25, and hopefully their peak will be higher than Dubois, and that their being under contract until only age 30 is a plus. Dubois until 33 is a minus, Believe what you want, but the numbers don't lie, they are facts.

Their peaks will be outside our competing window, so they need to go, it is what it is.

Habs are competing for a playoff spot in the next 2-years and will continue building towards a Cup contender.

Vilardi is a big injury question mark and Byfield looks like a bust (who I don’t think they’d trade anyway). Durzi is solid. Flashy names but big risks. I think MTL and LA might both look elsewhere at the draft or free agency.

Imagine if he goes to LA , and asks for another trade end of next season ..lol

Yeah, the Jets took the risk of trading Laine/Rost for Dubois thinking they can convince him to stay and then try that again with DeBrincat? I don't think so.
Trade is conditional on deBrincat signing long-term well into his thirties. That should be enough for Winnipeg.

Ottawa also pre-arranges extension with Dubois, who gets closer to home.

Same here.

But I think that the Jets will still want roster players who can step into their line-up right away. From everything I've read, Jets don't want to rebuild. So they want warm bodies that can step into their line-up right away. So I see them looking for a pick, a prospect and a roster player.

So I don't think they'll want a package with only a pick, a prospect who has yet to play a single NHL game and a 21-year old with less than 50 NHL games experience.

where is this normandin info? it's not on his twitter feed

So who’s better : Vilardi or Dach? Asking for a friend.
Would Kent Hughes happen to be your friend?

there is an absolutely less than zero chance Debrincat would sign longterm with Winnipeg

Yes I have seen PLD, especially in the playoffs, very closely.

Not impressed.

Dach is 2 full inches taller than PLD with reach for dayssssssssssssss, and he continues to fill into his frame and get stronger and stronger.
I am sure you actually have watched PLD regularly in the playoffs to make that statement. The guy has already played 38 playoffs games already (with 26 pts).
I'm evaluating by moment of addition , we don't need to add dubois at that price right now.

Maybe if the team is ever good and an adition like that could help us win but adding a sub ppg UFA at that price to our core of sub ppg players is just not something i'm interested in
You don't get to choose when a star player wants to come to Montreal. I can't remember the last time one publicly wanted to. Take them when you can.

The Habs leaking that they are trying to move up is just a counter attack to Chevy saying multiple teams are bidding on PLD. Habs get PLD and they then draft a winger (Michkov or Leonard or a RD like Reinbacher) instead of a center.
The difference is they are on contracts that expire when they are 30, you can choose to walk away from. Dubois if 8 years will be 33. Here are some numbers posted by someone on the Leafs board

. Here is a list of the greatest goal scorers the last 40 yrs and when they had their best goal season at their respective age.

Ovechkin 65 goals 21 yrs old
Crosby 51 goals 22 yrs old
P.Kane 46 goals 26 yrs old
Stamkos 60 goals 21 yrs old
Malkin 50 goals 25 yrs old
C.Perry 50 goals 25 yrs old
Iginla 52 goals 24 yrs old
Bure 60 goals 22 yrs old
Brett hull 86 goals 26 yrs old
Jagr 62 goals 23 yrs old
gretzky 92 goals 20 yrs old
Lemieux 85 goals 22 yrs old
Sakic 51 goals 26 yrs old
Heatley 50 goals 25 yrs old

Notice a trend? When I argued that the peak is at 25 years old, some just don't want to believe to suit their agendas.
These are all franchise players. Did their teams cast them aside when they turned 25???

Well that would be the second time PLD (3rd OA in 2016) would be traded for a 2nd OA pick.
I guess drafting in the top 3 is not great for other teams either.

Winnipeg should take either offer if it's what's really proposed and be done with it, anything more would be just greed at that point.

Hopefully KH steers clear of a bidding war.

Who in his right mind would refuse a 60M+ USD contract in probably the most beautiful, hot cities in the league.
Have you been to LA? Not the most beautiful, hot city. Smog 95% of the time. Danger zone as soon as the sun sets. Pockets of wealth and lots of poverty. Crappy public transport.

Wouldn't want to raise my family there.

Need to be extremely wealthy to enjoy LA.

Is a 60M usd contract extremely wealthy?

How does that compare with Montreal, Winnipeg or Columbus ?

But i do agree with you tho. At least its not red as f*** like florida.
