We can't give Barron as we are too thing at the RD position. We literally only have Barron and Savard with Mailloux on the way.
There could be a subsequent move if Barron were involved. I’m not saying it should necessarily be him but something of actual value has to be given up to get a deal done — we just can’t seem to arrive at a consensus for what that is, other than including the FLA pick within a package.

Glad Hughes is handling it.

Im always surprised by the lack of Josh Anderson in offers, rumors, etc. I mean, he's not old, he's signed for a few more seasons, his game is a GM favorite and most importantly, he's immediate help for Winnipeg. Also can't discount the fact that KH entertained offers for him at the TDL. If you need to include him in a trade for PLD, so be it. Package him with Kovacevic which is known name in WIN, or a prospect like Struble, and call it a day.

We have Kovacevic and the mighty Chris Wideman still on the team))

Harris can play on the right side too...

If they really push for Barron, I would probably make that trade.

He never said he actually wants to trade him, he only said he was getting a lot of calls about his availability.

I wonder if Engels actually knows something. He wrote he believes that PLD will be traded to MTL in his article today, then on Sick podcast he gets kinda hissy about the red flags with him and sort of praises him like he’s ready to get chummy with the new MTL player.

Engels is not saying anything new...

I don't buy into those red flags either.

I doubt he has some secret information though, he didn't break a thing in his entire career!

I added the caveat of not a defensive liability. I was very careful when I wrote that part of the post

Also a bunch of us use the "pro rated crap" when looking at caufield's potential regarding this season and being on pace for 46 goals
Caufield has 46 goals under MSL. You don’t have to pro rate it. We know what Caufield is. He’s a great goalscorer. We also know what Dubois is. Inconsistent.

Why is he inconsistent?

Looks pretty consistent to me...

Apart from the year when he got traded.

More and more I think about Barron leaving, more and more it stings. He was developing nicely and was our most offense-oriented D. Finally we have a true offensive D. Frankly we cannot trading anybody. lol

You nailed it. Sounds like Engels.

It's true he was developing nicely, but being our most offense-oriented D is a weird way to phrase things. Matheson is both very offense-oriented and just plain better offensively. Guhle was more productive despite not being as offense-oriented which is hardly a ringing endorsement for Barron. And we also have Hutson, Mailloux, even Xhekaj so it's not like production from the D is actually a major issue moving forward which makes Barron expendable even if it does sting a little.

He’s dipped the second half of every season he’s played with Winnipeg. He is consistent at that bringing him around his career norm, I’ll give you that.

During his first full season there he got 32 points in his first 41 games and 29 points during the other 41 games of the season... Pretty consistent if you ask me...

Last year he got 48 points during the first 41 games and then only 15 points in his last 32 games played but he was coming off an injury...

That might explain his dip in production last year.

While not impossible, LAK would need to free up cap for PLD while still needing to sign a goalie and the remaining roster spots. There will have to be other pieces moving here.

Montreal is in the same conundrum. If we end up trading Anderson at the draft for a pick, it will get interresting.

God forbid anyone point out red flags on this player...................
That being said, no one really knows for certain, it's Montreal or bust for this kid...............he could come to the habs and play his a$$ off and we will all be ecstatic!

But...........let's not say he is all that, and a bag chips, just yet!! LOL

Interesting that you know, that but the agents for Caufield, Bratt and Hintz do not.

I don't know for sure. It's my opinion. My bet is Dubois gets $8M - $8.5M range for 8 years. Under $8M is a reach.

Caufield is 5 RFA years and 2 UFA years. He don't factor into this conversation.

Hintz and Bratt are 1 RFA year and 7 UFA years. They apply. Bratt is a winger and Hintz and Dubois are centers. If Dubois takes less than $8M, he's coming home and leaving a bit on the table.

Trade is conditional on deBrincat signing long-term well into his thirties. That should be enough for Winnipeg.

Ottawa also pre-arranges extension with Dubois, who gets closer to home.

Dubois wanting to come home with is about playing for the team he cheered for as a kid. Not a family decision to be closer to family. Doubt he wants to sign with the Sens.

Anderson has a limited (8 teams, I think) NTC and I'd guess Winnipeg would be on it.

Anderson is a keeper to me. Not consistent but the type you need and his size/strength protects the many youth that filter in. He could be available but we are not going to shop him just to unload him.
Lets not build the next contender as the Montreal Smurfs.

Anderson also probably knows of the Dubois trade rumors and has the Jets in his NTC list.

Man Hughes sounds like a pain in the ass to deal with in these situations. He is a former agent after all.

Happy he's on our side lmao

Not neccessarily a good thing,

If you are too much of a PITA to deal with, other GM's will eventually stop talking to you completely

Anderson has an 8 team NTC that's why. Pretty sure Winnipeg will be on it.

First read that as PLD will be traded to Montreal today. lol Damn, do I want this trade to be over and done with.

Watch him go to Detroit after all this talk of LAK or Montreal.
