Me to PLD to protect Cole and the habs:

He also has serious character issues and quits on hit team at times. He would be a target of the fans and a potential disaster. On top of that, reports are he is demanding 9M AAV. For a top6 C that is full of issues that is egregious. If you sign him to that as a UFA, that's one thing. But if you give up significant assets then have to overpay him, that's a terrible proposition.

Habs has committed to Dach and he showed last season he can be the 2C the Habs are looking for. You have to give Dach an opportunity.
I'm perfectly happy to have both Dach and Dubois on our team, but I agree that $9M is a no-go. I don't care about his age, proximity to UFA, etc., Dubois would not get more than Caufield money from me.

There's all kinds of pictures of CC, Hughes & Zegras in Montreal, I guess for the Grand Prix Weekend.

And, PLD is everywhere in Montreal too this weekend. Tons of pics of him floating around at numerous events with friends or family.

Interesting that the two groups met up. Lol

Brisson looking to make the front page of Le Journal de Mourial (rag made up of 75% photos and oversized sensationalist headlines, another 20% are ads and 5% salvageable content on a good day).

Probable front page « Un Québécois retourne au bercail! » or, « Réveilles, Kent! ». For sure Brisson is and will be using our gullible media as his free propaganda division, to put further pressure on Hughes to acquire his client.
If Brisson is pushing for Kent to acquire PLD, it is indeed becuase his client wants to play here, no?

Anyways, I don't care abuot the homnetown angle, the degree of eagerness shown,m the opotential that it is a negotiating poly, etc.

Just tell me if he willing to sign long-term for Caufield money. If yes, Habs wil make a reasnable deal with Winnipeg who do not have a ton of leverage.

If not, no hard feelings, I won't accuse him of anything nefarious, good luck elsewhere PLD. There are plenty of teams that let an existing player walk in UFA if they can't fit him in their cap management plan. It is certainly even easier to pass on someone you don't even know as a team member yet.

All of them coming to Montreal NOW:

PLD for the 31st +

Zegras for the 5th +

Jack Hugues for .... ok you got me.
JH for RHP, much as it hurts.

Dubois is 25 years old in a few days.

Dach is much younger from a developmental standpoint as he just turned 22 in Jan.

Dach will be better than Dubois, he is bigger, actually plays bigger, and bonus, Dach has never begged to be off a team let alone 2 different teams.
Dach is already 22 years old , both players are 6'4" and Dubois is 2 pounds more at 214. Dach doesn't play bigger than Dubois, he's a guy to carry the puck, when Dubois is the one going to the net in the face of the goalie, and in the corners to get the puck.
Dubois never begged to be traded by Columbus, it's a false narrative. He just refused to be humiliated by his coach and played as Tortorella was accusing him to play. He was traded to the Jets and advised them he was not going to re-sign with them once free agent. If you read my posts above you will see that there is something toxic in Winnipeg and that Dubois isn't alone to wish to leave. Even the coach left at the end of their series

I have previously talked about fans of this board that are making stories about players or managers and coaches. They repeat their narrative so at the end, a lot of members believe their stories. I don't accuse you to be one of story makers, but just be careful about what you say because , you are all wrong in this one .

Funny you forgot someone in the foundation that i'd be more than willing to trade for PLD...

No one talks about Slaf.

Best case scenario he becomes as good as PLD but full time winger. You swap those two and take away all the unknown and bust potential for a center local star. One that keeps his head up and don't need IQ lessons to see the game.

We have good wingers in the pipeline and will draft many more this summer.

In my book Slaf is not untouchable for PLD.
We need to make the money work though.

Slaf and Gallagher for Dubois, no draft picks involved?

That is a trade a contender makes not a team in rebuild.
Depends how you trust the prospect and assess his bust potential versus how you value the big centerman. One guy is 24 the other 19, we're not talking about a 30yo wash up veteran.
.

Wouldn't that be insane, I do that trade everyday all day. Gallagher would never accept it tho... Armia and Hoffman are more realistic.
Armia is borderline bcuz he has 2 years left, but not with Slaf. Hoffman I am not willing to pay assets to be rid of him.

I would just waive Hoffman and Armia if they can't win a spot in camp. I think Hoffman might though.

Still I could move 31OA and Hoffman plus Harris or Evans for PLD

I would give Barron in a heartbeat in a trade for Dubois.

Barron is so soft. ...and he is so bad defensively.

Barron is a very good skater in straight line but thats it.

When I saw one of the best gm in the league (Sakic) gave him for Lekhonen instead of other Avs prospects....I was suspicious about Barron and when you really look at him on the ice.....you understand why Sakic gave up on him.

Even if we are thin on the RD...Barron is not the answer at all
Crosby disagrees with you...............he thought the habs got the better of the deal with the Avs.

I think PLD could be a nice addition to the team, but at the right price.............that being said you have to admit, he had forced a trade in Columbus, and is doing the same again.
The flags are there............

Barron has improved a lot in the last 12 months. He may still become a #3 D. Jeff Petry took some time to develop too. Mark Giordano as well.

My recollection is that Laine mainly forced the trade and Dubois was the price to pay, especially since Torts did not love him.

Nope........PLD requested a trade...
The Jets, thought it best to move on from Laine.....
Although it's 6 of one, and half a dozen of the other.

Laine also requested a trade from the Jets. It wasn't just PLD asking for a trade from Columbus and Laine was the price to pay.

They both asked to be traded from their respective teams. Evander Kane also request out of Jets. Roslovic did, as well. Trouba also. And even Paul Maurice left mid-season.

IDK I'm not even from MTL or French speaking but I think it would be kinda cool to have a Quebecois star. The game is played for the fans at the end of the day. I draw the line at taking players/staff over others more qualified specifically because of language but thats not the case here. PLD is a good player that fits the core.

Winnipeg really struggles to keep and acquire talent in many fields. My wife is a nurse practitioner that gets flown in from Toronto to northern Manitoba to work on Indian reserves because they can't find enough ppl.
