Yeah maybe I should've said the entire mainboard and not only the PLD thread is like a kindergarten class full of kids hyped up on chocolate that the teacher as lost complete control of instead.

I rarely open any Habs threads there anymore since any Habs related thread just turns into complete shitshows even worse than regular threads there. It's pretty much the same for Leafs related threads there as well.
Sadly, some of our fans over there, sink to the same level.

Hope Mr. Dubois is listening!

Has there been ANYONE, even the most biased Habs fan that have said, PLD would make us an instant contender? That’s just vitriolic nonsense. You can dislike the player for whatever reasons, his attitude etc, his potential contract but you can’t create a false narrative to hand out self high fives.

PLD gives us three major things:

A Big shutdown center that can play on the edge, in the prime of his career. Size in your lineup matters, especially at center in the playoffs.

A two headed monster at center. Finally Suzuki gets some help down the middle. He’s been a lone warrior out there for a long time. Adding PLD gives Suzuki better matchups, which should only increase his production.

A genuine Francophone star in his prime, who wants to be here. That counts for a lot. Even now. The last one we had was Stephane Richer, (sorry Damphousse) and most of the Xbox crowd have no idea who either guys were.

This team need atleast 3 top 6 players
Atleast 3 bottom 6 players

Atleast 2 top 4 def and a goalie

So yeah ur right

Have you watched this? It's worth it.

Guy who has watched PLD a ton.

Long story short you never know what version of PLD you get, often it's not the one you want.

On paper it sounds FANTASTIC, 6ft3, beautiful gros bonhomme, un beau petit gars de chez nous, Center! But appearances can be and often are deceiving.

I agree with most of that evaluation.

Whoever they draft with number 5 should fill one of those higher end spots.

The bottom six players can be fleshed out from the farm team or through some trades/signings.

I think some young guys like Beck (if he’s not traded), Heineman, Roy and Davidson will give good accounts of themselves and one or two will make the team out of camp.

They’ll be more turnover this year as well, as vets like Hoffman and Edmundson will certainly be moved on or before the deadline. I hope Dvorak is dealt as well but that’s probably just wishful thinking on my part.

But does he have the Benoit Brunet -Gros Bonhomme- seal of approval?

And that's fair enough, the man has some interesting and valid points. PLD's still a mile better than anyone we have right now, and I've rarely seen a top guy in this league that hasn't struggled with some form of consistency. He has his warts, there's no doubt about it, but we are very unlikely to ever develop another Center as good as he is now and will be in the foreseeable future to help our current core group.

Maybe.

But if wants to be here so bad as he states he will come here on a good contract and do what Suzuki and Caufield have done.

He isn't worth 9 million and we should not give him that.

He's not going to be in the 55-65 range for the entire 8 year term. He could have a few in the 50's, a few in the 60's and maybe some 70-80 range.

Players don't usually have consistent seasons like that. That also applies to Suzuki. Usually, players best seasons come in the age 25-30 range. Even McDavid has increased his point totals substantially at age 24/25.

$9M - $9.5M is overpayment. I agree there. But he's not worth less than $8M though.
Jesper Bratt has had two consecutive 73 point seasons and is Dubois' age. He just got 8 x $7.875M

Yeah, Richer scored 50 twice but Damphousse was still >>>>>Dubois.
