Caufield and Dubois are not in the same situation though

Your not buying 7 UFA years with Caufield, that’s a big difference
Agreed, Dubois gets the age premium, but Caufield gets the goalscoring premium, and Suzuki the leadership premium,

LA are after Morrisey or their goalie. Doughty is getting old and they traded Korpisalo.

Cup winners F on the market close to ~60pts Barbashev, Killhorn, Kane, Tarasenko even younger guys like Bunting or Bertuzzi would cost less cap and no assets.

I can't even deal with Jets fans on the main board, they are speaking to us like they are in a position of power or something not understanding that we are in the catbird seat here, Like they have some amazing valuable asset we can't do without lmao

They are in such an extreme position of weakness but still go on about getting some nice quality assets for a red flag ridden dude who's only interested in signing for like 5-6 teams lol.

Can't wait to fleece them or just not get the guy , let LA make the mistake of giving up assets for him.
There is that one clown that keeps telling us to leave the thread when we tell him they're not getting dach.

I have no ill will towards that franchise, in fact I feel bad for them but unless we get the deal of the decade (in assets and cap hit) for Dubois I'm fine with missing out on him completely. He's not a superstar, we shouldn't even be talking about him in this stage of the rebuild of it wasn't for his so called desire to play here.

Barbashev would be nice, but Vegas has the room to re-sign him

Killorn is a pass.
Kane is a pass
Tarasenko is a pass.
Bunting is a pass
Bertuzzi likely doesn't sign in Canada

You play the hand that's being dealt to you......not everyday a 60-65 points young 24 years old come knocking at the door to play for your team. Might not be the best timing, but our ''rebuild'' is well advanced, our prospects are getting into the NHL but they need some help, some older, more experienced player (some they don't need to carry like the ones on the team right now).

But it's not like the Habs have to 100% get him either, but they have to listen and try to make it work.

Sure, try, but not at the same level that a contending team trying to get over the hump would try

Yes I also felt bad about Jets fans until I started interacting with some of them they are totally delusional , we have bad fans on main boards too but still they are asking for way too much as if anybody else than like 4 teams are kicking tires on dubois

Why would LAK be in on PLD?

They already have Kopitar and Danault, unless they only want to use PLD on the wing?

He will be a Montreal Canadien before this season starts
For once someone wants to play here and he is a local boy
This is a done deal, probably something along the lines of O Beck, J Harris, and a second rd pick this year for a newly signed PLD at 7.5 Million per 5-6 years
50% chance

Exactly !

Since 2004 (year I started following the Habs) not a single player of PLD caliber have been interested in MTL. Maybe Cammalleri
Kovalev?

With those C, they either miss the playoffs, or are first round fodder...................not to mention Kopitar is ready to pack it in....
Which one of those 2 is pld better than?

The last two years at top dollar are somewhat of a negative. If Suzuki and Caufield are ok with it, then my max is 6 years at $8.0M

I also like the three contracts expring a year apart and then Guhle a year after that. Easier to manage than when multiple key players expire at the exact same time.

PLD the size premium
That is already factored into his value.
