Yup , On the flip side , some dudes are just wired like that . Maybe he really gives his 100% every shift for us once he does come here but to think there is no risk that the guy pouts or something 2 years into his deal here is just nonsense the risk is there the guys personality is well documented
Agreed. He has done nothing to deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Also he's not good enough for the salary and term he plans to command. It will handcuff us when we're ready to contend. Oh yeah...and we will need to trade some big time assets.

Maybe a 3 way trade with LA and Winnipeg that could satisfy Winnipeg's need of established players? LA has an extra RD if my memory is correct and needs a better goalie.

He mailed it in again this year in the playoffs for the Jets. Was completely disengaged in Games 4 and 5. Got called out by another veteran coach immediately after elimination.

Imagine getting paid that much money and to just decide to work hard only when you feel like it.

There is now a 6-year sample size of an enigmatic underachiever with extremely inconsistent effort and performance.
Wrong. The coach was pointing finger at some other players.

LA got what Winnipeg needs and wants. A guy like Villardi or Byfield, and plenty of good young d-men.

Well if we indeed get PLD no way do we give him a no trade clause .Imagine getting stuck with him if things start going south.Even if he doesn't have a NTC Imagine trying to trade him to his 4th team .We would have to pay a team just to get rid of him .A pile of risk never mind all the draft picks and prospects we have to give the Jets to start with.At first i was all in for him and now i am kind of on the fence .

According to Basu, we would have to pay him more than other teams would. If that's true then it doesn't really seem like he wants to play here.
That part doesn’t make sense to me. If he wants to come here, wouldn’t he come at a discount to up the odds? Why would he make it more difficult for himself to go to the team he wants to go to. Unless, he doesn’t really want to come hete

First of all, PLD is more a 65-70 pts and I do projet him being a 70 pts + player.

We have a way better idea of what Barron is then when we traded Sergachev and we didn't trade him for a center. Plus PLD >>>>>>>> Drouin

Or you can trade Barron and acquiring one after like Adam Boqvist (or draft Reinbacher)

Big PF that can produce like PLD and give you C/LW versatility is really valuable.

I do like Justin Barron and he was the prospect I was targeting when we where looking to trade Lehkonen so I was really happy with the trade but I don't think he's more then a 2nd pair guy. Is he valuable ? of course that's why Winnipeg would be interested but he can be replaceable and PLD is way more valuable
I'd prefer to trade the 31st pick than Barron, but not both unless Gallagher is included. Something like
Barron-Dvorak-3rd rounder
or
31st-Dvorak-Harris or Struble

And I am sticking to my max cap hit being equal to Caufield's - not more.

That part doesn’t make sense to me. If he wants to come here, wouldn’t he come at a discount to up the odds? Why would he make it more difficult for himself to go to the team he wants to go to. Unless, he doesn’t really want to come hete
It is possible for Montreal to be on a short list, but not be first on that list.

But frankly, I don't care about rank on the list, nor about whether Dubois is being "sincere".

I just want to know if we will sign for no more than $7.85M

Sure buddy. Eichel is not a quitter but Dubois is. Is that what you are saying?

Members of the media are guessing and gullible fans are considering it factual insider info.. There is no way any member of the media knows this information at this point in time. Not a chance. There is some deep trade talk going on and also possible contract. This won't be leaked until it happens.
This is why you need to be careful with info from media. you never have the full story and they have to fill "pages" or "air time"... so they take lots of liberties

the trade that makes sense from a hockey standpoint is KK for Dubois.

Carolina want to win now and Rod BA must be getting impatient with his 2nd line center, who he obviously doesn’t trust. The trick is their Cap after next season. Will Aho sign, will RFA’s take a bridge …

Winnipeg are losing players with expiring contracts - they can lock up a center long term at 4.8. KK can be a 3rd C on contender, 2C on a pretender. Maybe the budget #2 gives them a little more $$ to keep Chef.

He will be a Montreal Canadien before this season starts
For once someone wants to play here and he is a local boy
This is a done deal, probably something along the lines of O Beck, J Harris, and a second rd pick this year for a newly signed PLD at 7.5 Million per 5-6 years
Nah he's using old Habs as a tool for money.

I say he ends up in Detroit, Colorado or somehow Boston

I see Kuznetsov to Carolina before PLD tbh.

He will cost less in a trade and can put the core over the hump.

It will take both and that without Gally

Barron + 31th pick is not a high price for someone like PLD

That’s not true

Not sure how Basu wrote it because he’s a good one but that info is not good

Basu wrote it similar to "to go to a rebuilding team (like MTL), Dubois would ask for more money". He directly used Montréal as the rebuilding team example.

Mtl is not paying PLD more than Suzuki and Caufield. So PLD can’t use Mtl as a leverage for a better salary. This situation is completely different than the usual Quebecer UFA in his early 30’s that wants to finish is career playing at home.

I can't even deal with Jets fans on the main board, they are speaking to us like they are in a position of power or something not understanding that we are in the catbird seat here, Like they have some amazing valuable asset we can't do without lmao

They are in such an extreme position of weakness but still go on about getting some nice quality assets for a red flag ridden dude who's only interested in signing for like 5-6 teams lol.

Can't wait to fleece them or just not get the guy , let LA make the mistake of giving up assets for him.

IMO, it's Brisson trying to drive up the contract price for the Habs.

All the smoke has always been around us and LA suddenly appears out of nowhere and MB is linked to the team??.
Habs get used like this all the time...............the agents drive the bus, and the player always assumes zero responsibility.
We will know soon, if PLD has always wanted to play for the habs or not.............

The Jets............are in a bad way...............Dubois, and Helleybuck want out............and the other two stars, the team wants gone................going to be a gong show in Winnipeg this summer.

Im not even worried,

If we had bergevin as gm i'd be pooping my pants all off season.

We have a educated and literate management team (a rarity i know) so i'm not really worried about the PLD case.

Our team seems smart and understands asset management

If Habs get him, don’t worry, it will make sense for the team. Contract and trade package wise.

If He is not coming, it was because he did not really wanted to absolutely be here.

Nah he's using old Habs as a tool for money.

How?

He didn't get singlehandedly called out, the entire team did. Not to mention that he was one of their best players still in my opinion (which was far from being good by the way).

Dubois isn't a quitter
You live in Columbus and Winnipeg then get back to us 😂

Not to mention he has been stuck playing for dinosaur coaches his whole career in Tortorella, Maurice and Bowness. I don't think Maurice is a bad coach, but he was at the end of his coaching life with the Jets while PLD was there.

Playing for a coach like MSL would be a breathe of fresh air for PLD.

Lol no. Eichel was called a cancer/quitter by a lot of people a few years ago.
Ya people are just ignoring all the "GM Eichel" comments because of how much of a diva he supposedly was. Buffalo was a shithole where players lost their passion, it became glaringly obvious with ROR and Eichel's comments about how they were motivated to play again.

I don't want to make excuses for PLD because you'd still like to see way more effort, but it's a bit unfair to say "oh look he wants out again! This guy is a diva" when Tkachuk and Eichel got traded to places they wanted to get traded to but PLD got traded to buttf*** Manitoba, somewhere nobody wants to play.

That being said, it's a bit hard to know for sure if PLD will be motivated for once playing for us since this is somewhere he actually wants to play or if the market will eat him up.

Dubois will get abit more then Suzuki and Caufield we’re buying alot more UFA years Hughes specifically spoke about that in hes last press conference
