I believe the Bruins are also on the hook for Bergeron and Krejci's bonuses from this past year as well. Maybe that's already been factored in.

It has. Their cap overages are costing the Bruins $4.5m against the cap next season. Without that, they'd have almost $9.5m in cap space, which still isn't great.

But, better than just under $4.5, where they are now.

PLD is not at the level of Stone or Eichel. If he was, I wouldn't have issues giving him $9.5m, but he isn't that kind of player.

You should ask this question to the people who are calling Dubois a quitter since those people are the same ones who called Eichel a quitter.

While I don't think the Tkachuk and Eichel situations are that comparable, I will say that people worried about PLD quitting in the playoffs because of 1 good series in his career need to account for how M.Tkachuk didn't even have that 1 good series before he got traded. As for Eichel, most Sabres fans are still pissed because they do think he didn't try hard and set the tone as the captain even besides his injury.

Doubt it. Not at 5 anyway. There's too much forward skill available at 5. Rainbacker is a #3 or 4 d-man to me. We already have that player in Barron.

I think Habs model defense after Vegas. Big heavy mobile who can handle the puck. Gives team so many advantages. Guys like Matheson or Guhle. Mailloux, etc...

I even think Harris will be traded, eventually. Due to size and Hutson arrival.

I find it odd that the only source on the 9M salary is Basu. None of the mainstream rumour mongers have corroborated it and yet that one piece of info is suddenly turning many people off on Dubois. Had Basu reported that Dubois wanted out and a long term contract price will reflect his desire to play in each market then the entire fan base would have a different reaction.
Dubois signs here for around 7.5 - 8 and it changes most peoples minds.

If I was Dubois watching all the Habs media suddenly turning on him over a dumb report by Basu....then yeah why should he come here?

Agreed Hutson would have way more value to Habs than any team. Dach/Guhle are part of core. Barron is in the middle for me, I want to see how he does next season.

Mailloux/Kidney/Farrell/Harris are the pieces to move IMO

We see it close to the same. I would dangle Beck before Mailloux. That's the only change I would make. I rather keep the RD and trade the C due to organizational strength after adding Dubois (Suzuki, Dach, Dubois, Kidney, and possibly Smith if we draft him).

Sorry but we need big dogs not little babies and so far Dubois has shown to be more of a little baby than a big dog . Hopefully he knows what he wants and is up to the challenge if he wants to come here

Agreed. Dubois most likely wanted to come home after asking out of Columbus. Jets intervened and took a gamble he would stay. That's not Dubois fault. That's the Jets fault. Now, they are hoping to recoup the best they can from the situation they puts themselves in.

There is some deep trade talk going on and also possible contract. This won't be leaked until it happens.

I think we have a situation where he does not have to carry the load himself. If it was 3+ years ago, I'd agree he would be targeted more. However, He can share the load with several guys on our roster. $8.5M x8 and he falls in line around Suzuki and Caufield.

It's the best time for him to come home. Won't be on a island by himself.

According to Basu, we would have to pay him more than other teams would. If that's true then it doesn't really seem like he wants to play here.

Those situations are completely different. Eichel committed to a long term contract with Buffalo and it’s not like that franchise has been much better, if at all then Columbus and Winnipeg to play for. He may not have been happy with the quality of the team but he still showed up and played. It wasn’t until Buffalo tried to interfere with a medical decision that would affect his health in the long term before he really wanted out. That’s not the same as being upset about a location or having a falling out with a coach.

I agree with this. First time a hometown player, entering his prime, big center wants to come play in Montreal. There’s no way i see HuGo and Molson pass on that.
