If Vegas wins tonight, buyout period starts Thursday (48 hours after SCF is complete or June 15th, whichever is later. In this case, it's same day).

Definitely interested to see who the buyouts are. I expect a few this year.
Any buyouts by HuGo expected?

As much as I like Hutson and am looking forward to seeing him play on our team, we could trade him without making too big of a hole in our prospect pool. We're real deep at that position, with yet more players turning pro soon. I'd hate to see him go but them's the breaks.
He’s the only elite offensive dman. No one is better or similar to him. He’s the habs best prospect. They’re never moving him.

Everybody wants a big skill centerman but many want one for free and on a cheap contract cause you know.....we're THAT good at attracting or developping players.
Didn’t you hear — climate change will turn us into the new California.

we need help on the blueline in the near future, puck moving and offense. Guhle provides hope, Arbs the beatdown, I hope we can get some young studs soon
I see that happening next year with a top heavy draft in quality Ds. However, there may be good droppers to choose from with FLA’s pick.

Don't think so. Only person might be Hoffman, who is going into his last year.

Don't think they buyout Armia. That would give us 4 years of dead cap space. Gallagher's contract is essentially buyout proof, and he still has a shit load of term on it.

We didn't buyout anyone last year either.

Only maybe one, 2 or 3 of Armia, Hoff and Dvo can be traded at TDL, just maybe. Maybe none of them too. And Gallagher there is no chance. He'll stay till the end, will be LTLR soon anyway. Or buyout in 2 years.

With only one year left on his deal, I would definitely not see value in buying out Hoffman.

If he was really committed to coming to Montreal he would just flat out say he’s unwilling to negotiate a long term contract and wants to test free agency in 2024.

He owes Winnipeg nothing, he doesn’t owe them a sign a trade to get them a better return.

If now all of a sudden he’s open to committing to 5/6 teams for 8 years, his desire to play in Montreal was merely smoke and mirrors.
I agree, it sounds like he's using MTL to raise his next contract.

I will lose all the respect I have for him if it's the case like Briere years ago.

I'd say if the Habs buy someone out, they aren't on the roster yet.

This. Team is not going to be that competitive next year so extra capspace is not a dire need. Maybe next year they buy out Armia (saves 2.5M in 24-25, costs 1.3M in dead cap in 25-26) but for where the team is at they don't need to get rid of guys and stretch out the payments. If Hoffman isn't part of the plan then just waive him to Laval and he's off the books entirely after next year.

This thread will call me to a crashing halt soon enough

Everything has been said, but not by everyone.

They will buyout Reilly and Forbort for an additional 5 millions, but still not enough for PLD or even Bertuzzi.
I believe the Bruins are also on the hook for Bergeron and Krejci's bonuses from this past year as well. Maybe that's already been factored in.

If I'm another team, I trade for Dubois as a pure 1 year rental so the jets ask isn't outrageous. After acquiring PLD, I flip him to the Habs for a better price but not the ridiculous one that Winnipeg is asking for. That'd be some good GMing

+ Technically a GM could set this up with Brisson since PLD is technically without a contract so he can talk to other teams.
