I'm going to kill the lot of you if he isn't traded here

Have a feeling he's going to Boston. They need a center to play with pasta and Marchand.

Boston has less than $5m in cap space, and only have 7 forwards & 1 goalie signed. They already have 7D signed. Somehow, they have to sign minimum 5 more forwards, and a backup goalie with $4.9m in cap space. They can do it if they sign all 6 players for $800,000. But, it's very unlikely Swayman & Frederic will sign for that amount.

There's no way they can add a $9m contract without completing tearing apart their team.

But did you know he asked out on 2 teams already?
No one mentioned it on this page, yet, so just to be safe.
Everything has been said, but not by everyone.

They will buyout Reilly and Forbort for an additional 5 millions, but still not enough for PLD or even Bertuzzi.

Bruins are a mess...............love it..............no cap and no high end draft picks coming.

If Vegas wins tonight, buyout period starts Thursday (48 hours after SCF is complete or June 15th, whichever is later. In this case, it's same day).

Definitely interested to see who the buyouts are. I expect a few this year.

Since when MSL plays a dump and chase hockey ? It work well with Dach

We won't finish last next year, we won't have that much injuries to key players and young players like Caufield Suzuki Dach Slaf Guhle are all gonna take a step

we play a 'sit back' style of hockey it's why our PP sucks so hard, dump chase.. cycle.. puke. Also we keep saying 'we won't have another injury riddled season like the last one' then , guess what.. HOLD MY BEER we smash the previous man games lost record.

I don't see anything changing, we are still a small team with our core players, not just small but we can't hang physically. The offense will continue to flow around Nick , Cole and Dach. Dach has good size but he gets hurt when he plays physical, and god knows what Slaf delivers this year, he could be another injury prone poofster at this point

It’s between Boston, Detroit, and LA for me. I don’t think we’re going to be able to outbid those teams and get a contract that makes sense done. Seeing how stubborn HuGo has been even on Anderson the last 1 or 1.5 years, I don’t think he’ll let Winnipeg push him around on this. If this was Bergevin, deal would’ve been done last summer.

Boston and LA don’t have the leeway to pull the trigger without significant salary coming back to Winnipeg, nor do they own their respective 2023 1st round pick. I think they ultimately pass.

But I concur with Detroit being a serious dark horse contender for Dubois. Not only do they have ample cap space, but they have 5 top-64 picks in the upcoming draft (2x 1st and 3x 2nd) and - most importantly perhaps - a higher « internal cap », with Larkin at 8.7M instead of Suzuki’s 7.8M.

And that was without Weber counting for a full season on LTIR

Gionta. He was coming off consecutive 20+ G, 50-60 point seasons in Jersey before signing with Montreal. I think he would qualify as a legit top 6.
That was due to Lou L. He went to him with the Habs offer, and he told him he would be crazy not to take it and to look after his family.

I think I should have added Cammy and Cole as well, not elite superstars but certainly coveted players and definitely top 6 forwards. And I suspect someone would have given Gionta close to the 5X5 Montreal gave him, just wasn't going to be Lou.

No. Way.
They can have Harris np, or I'll listen if they wanna talk Barron or Mailloux..

But they are not allowed to even look in Hutson's direction.
Surely not Mailloux and Barron I wanna keep him. Hutson no way.
Harris, Struble and some others they can have. Beck is on the table too and Mesar.
Dvorak : his luggages are already in the plane to Win.
+ Flo 31 st.

If he was really committed to coming to Montreal he would just flat out say he’s unwilling to negotiate a long term contract and wants to test free agency in 2024.

He owes Winnipeg nothing, he doesn’t owe them a sign a trade to get them a better return.

If now all of a sudden he’s open to committing to 5/6 teams for 8 years, his desire to play in Montreal was merely smoke and mirrors.

I'd trade Hutson for Dubois but the Jets won't value Hutson like we do. Dach and Guhle are not on the table. Just not happening.

We are only going to trade for him if the cost is around the Horvat or Trouba type trades. If higher, let him go to another team and see if he gives them a hard time with the 8 year term.

Brisson saying he is open to 5 or 6 teams on the 8 year extension might be just playing nice to the Jets. For all we know, he is ok with $8.5 in Montreal but any other city will have to pay him $9.5M+
Agreed Hutson would have way more value to Habs than any team. Dach/Guhle are part of core. Barron is in the middle for me, I want to see how he does next season.

Mailloux/Kidney/Farrell/Harris are the pieces to move IMO

As much as I like Hutson and am looking forward to seeing him play on our team, we could trade him without making too big of a hole in our prospect pool. We're real deep at that position, with yet more players turning pro soon. I'd hate to see him go but them's the breaks.
