Anyways, he won’t be available when it will be time for offer sheet

Every part are confident it’s gonna be done in 2 weeks

He wouldn't sign one anyway.

And good, he can go to LA for Vilardi and Arvidsson.. sign his long term contract and we can continue our build.

I ain't doing nothing more than Dvorak/Anderson and the Florida pick. Jets aren't taking that, nor will Anderson waive for Winnipeg.

I still think if he is willing to go there, the team that is the best fit in terms of where they are now, team need, available young players and prospects and lots of picks in top 45 in this draft is Detroit.

I have been reading this thread with both fear and excitement in my heart. The player is very interesting but the red flags are definitely there. It is interesting because from the Habs point of view there are essentially two independent negotiations going on simultaneously: one with the Jets and one with the player. I only hope Hughes has set a player value on PLD in terms of assets and in terms of money and is prepared to walk away if the ask is too high on either front. The discipline to be able to walk away from the table is the most important bit of leverage the Habs can have here.

For me the most important negotiation is regarding the contract AAV. The last thing this team needs right now is an intrusive contract that hinders the signing of players. Specifically I’m thinking of raises to D men who are currently young but who will progress well (hopefully)! On a good contract, the trade ask for PLD would be a lot easier to swallow. Either way, I hope walking away is always held as a viable option….. always.

He won't even be UFA in that scenario.
Yes he will. Lets say he signs a 1 year deal for the money and says I can't play cause I'm hurt or I need mental time off. That can take him straight to ufa. My post was in the context that he signs and decides not to play once signed

To be honest though he had quite a good year wanting out in a team were there was clearly issues in the room. If you trade for him its a sign and trade. He never really had a long term contract before. Its a risk I would be willing to take. On his side though, be carefull what you whish fore, if you ask for more money then Suzuki and you are underwelming in your first year, the mtl media will eat you alive!!!

Who said Nashville is not on his list?
It was a hypothetical. Switch Nashville with Arizona. Doesn't really matter

So co-host, Jeff Marek, went one better.

“My theory is this: Montreal is number one, so number one that I have trouble identifying a number two. There is Montreal and a team in third, fourth, fifth and sixth position. »

He very well might last 4-5 years, but you have to admit between CBJ (where players have run away before) and Jets (who have well documented toxicity in that franchise) can you blame him wanting out of both?
Exaclty !

If he wanted out of a great organization like Tampa or Colorado, I would be more concern but he was with 2 of the worst teams

Offer sheet!

Offer sheet!

Offer Sheet!

Yup - this is now a game of Russian roulette, and the closer it gets to offer sheet window the less leverage Chevaldayoff possesses - caveat being will there be other teams that truly have interest and is PLD willing to agree to a longterm deal with them?

If the answer is no, then HuGo have 100% leverage position and Chevaldayoff will need to concede and accept either offer sheet compensation (1st rounder & 3rd rounder) or whatever HuGo are willing to cough up

OH Common, he did ask for a trade from Columbus, I will give you that. But he is in f***in Winnipeg where moskitos are proportional to his paycheck, and where you go to the rink to warm up. Ask your wife if she would move to winnipeg? I dont blame him for that one. He is a savior, no. But he would be an upgrade over Monahan, faster, more physical and younger.
Always fear the devil you don't know................................he should have known, wanting out of one city is no guarantee you will like where they send you................
This................is what happened.

Would he be a nice piece to add...........sure.
Hughes knows Brisson, so let's just accept the fact, that Hughes knows what is being said behind closed doors.

Hughes has leverage.............Chevy does not............if there is a deal to be made, I like our position with HuGo using their leverage.

He would really need to be hurt, and really diagnosed as having mental health issues, and you better guess there would be quite a few additionnal "neutral" assessments considering his situation.

No you don't. I'll give you an example. Kawhi Leonard was cleared to play with the Spurs. He said I can't. His entire team was bashing him. He decided not to play. A team can't force you to play. Also it's not hard for a doctor to sign a medical letter stating that you're going through mental duress.

If Dubois wants to come here, and Habs give minimal assets, who cares?

Define minimal assets though...

Would you be willing to include Beck in a trade for PLD?
Just about the last non-roster player, non-Hutson prospect I'd include.

(Tbh it's either him or Mailloux, and my reasoning is that Mailloux' value as a trade chip is almost certainly lower than his value as a hockey player/prospect, or else it would be clearly Beck).

A team can't force a player under contrct to play.
But a team can toll a contract. There's a very well established precedent for that in the NHL.

There won't be an offer sheet, Dubois will not accept it cause if the Habs place an offer sheet, Dubois signed it, then Jets could simply agrre to that ofer sheet and he's stuck there for another year (or longer depending on the offer)

Not going to happen

Yeah, last thing PLD wants is give Winnipeg an opportunity to match which they will surely do. There will be no offer sheet.
