I respect every opinions on here but this one really irks me. And I do know there's a possibility HuGo trades for him, that'd be dumb as hell.

Yeah,

It's one thing for me if the guy is really worth it and we CANNOT afford him going to another team...

But his track record of "wanting out" speaks for itself, all the way back to his junior days...

Some also really over-value him due to how tall he is, position he plays and where he was born.

He's decent but let's not go crazy here, and also keep in mind there are definite red flags, he will likely want out of Montreal at some point if he comes here, just judging by his history.

All in all this does not scream to me like a loyal, heart and soul player.

Pass - unless we sign him on a decent deal.

And pretty mediocre playoffs history (except that one year 5 seasons ago) I may add. Total no show against Mtl 2 yrs ago, and it goes on.
Because he won't be UFA
Then too bad, won't be worth what he will sign anyways

The guy you have on your avatar did the same thing last year..

And he didn't do that in JNR, don't know where you took that

Didn't Tkachuk inform the Flames that he would test free agency ? He didn't formally demand a trade, he was honest with them.

I’m hoping it’s kidney
You are ready to give one of your kidneys ???? :naughty:

Thatchuk and Gaudreau, two American vet players, wanted to play back home. Habs had the chance to secure Caufield tor 8 seasons, a younger American player.

Are you okay?

Trading a guy they just acquired, 3 years younger, has the potential to be even be better, cheap contract for 3 years, fit perfectly a rebuild because they have the time to develop him.

Why would you even want to do that.
Usual hfboards, don't change

Well, of course you need to give one of them up, I would even remove Slaf,

You want something good, you need to give up something good,

It's going to take the 5th or Dach +

Winnipeg has a disgruntled player who has now publicly said he won't re-sign with them. He's limiting them to 4-6 teams who could very well be teams he knows won't be able to make anything work without a lot of maneuvering all because he supposedly wants to play for the Habs.

With that sort of leverage, or lack thereof, why would we even consider giving up 5th or Dach? Let alone adding to either one?

Far as I'm concerned, it's Florida's pick and a decent prospect but not one of our top. If they don't like that, then good luck to whoever gets Dubois. Hope he doesn't cry in two years.

I'm not really keeping up with all of this because there's a hope within me that it would all just go away and not exist but since that isn't happening I have to deal with it, something similar to getting old lol. So, is this playing out like the NJ/CBJ situation with Severson where the new contract is being hammered out and then the trade happens?

But isn't that.. exactly what Dubois did too lol
Exactly… Hearing Debrincat wants out of ottawa… Another pos double-crossing no good hockey player there that couldn’t help a team win games going by the takes on this board…

…or would he and Dubois make the habs better and more fun to watch… hmmm…

Depends on where he goes but yeah if a team that trades for him as a rental, they could trade his rights before he reaches ufa status like what Habs did with edmundson
Dubois apparently wants to sign a long-term deal before the 2023-2024 season, and will thus won't be traded to a team offering him only one year, because he's getting traded to a team with which he has an agreed upon deal.

The habs don’t have a good track record acquiring players when they have leverage. No need to give up anything for Gomez. No need to give up anything significant for Drouin. I could see Winnipeg winning a PLD trade.

People don’t always like the company they work for or their coworkers. Hockey players have a fun, albeit dangerous, job but the pressure to like where they get drafted to is excessive. The draft is good for the sport but it’s pretty crazy not being able to choose where to live or who to work for.
