Everybody hates Tortz. He feeds journalits of his savy quotes but players hates him after one year or less. He's an horrible bully when he's on the case of a player. Check how he treatened Antony Duviller. And

I wonder if all of Trotz's head pounding is subconsciously linked to envy.

I think its absolutely idiotic to not try to get Dubois. It is so rare that a top line player wants to come to this team; you jump when this happens.
I keep hearing that we need to keep adding younger assets but in reality we have too many in the system right now. If we don’t start using assets to upgrade for top line players then we will lose them for nothing because quite frankly there is no room for them.
I agree the 5th OA and our top players are off the table but we still have plenty to offer.

I would call him a top 6 forward rather than a first line forward. He's somewhere in the 60-90th range among forwards, like Suzuki, which makes him a low end first line player.

Friedman: “Jets are trying to create a market but you have to convince me there’s someone other than Mtl…. “

Marek:”there’s no #2, it goes from Mtl to #3”
So, is Pat Brisson talking out of his arse?
5-6 teams interested?

Brisson has never stated a word publicly about salary demands or number of teams that I’m aware of.

It’s been Basu / Godin and Ates’ speculations
Interesting.................the media can't help themselves because they pretend they are in the know....stupid.

So then habs fans and Jets fans ensue in a online bitch fest over the kids worth, and whether or not we should be in the mix or not...........

I will say it again, if we can add him without giving away far too much, great, and his new contract should not start with an 8 or a 9 is should start with a 7

Comes back to 32-podcast - Friedman & Marek state clearly, “PLD would fit” other teams they mention but make it clear all roads lead to Mtl.

It’s becoming more evident Cheveldayoff is leaking info to create an artificial market that doesn’t actually exist, at the price point he’s set (NHL ready assets to help the Jets in the now), because teams know where the player’s heart & minds at

This is the real answer, Basu and Gordon are saying 5-6 teams he’s interested in. Marek and friedmann are saying that it’s really 1 and the others heD settle for.

Now imagine you hear the same story about your gf. She settled for you but her heart was always somewhere else? Do you want that?

Now be a GM where the the above also requires you moving players and prospects to then eat your cap for someone who only “kinda” wants to be there. That’s what mareka be friedmann are alluding too, the arpon piece is just pure anxiety drive

Not speculation

Well yeah, the comparables are Larkin, hintz and Horvat who are all in that range

I trust Marek
It can come from Chevy to try to create a market.

Trust way more Frieidman and Marek for those kind of infos.
I also listened to the Athletic Podcast where they talk about it.

Basu seem pretty biased as to not wanting Dubois here for XYZ reasons.

I really trust Friedman and Marek on this type of info. When it comes from them it’s always legit.

I can’t ever recall a time when Friedman has ever put probabilities on player movement (95%), and he seems to be doubling down on that stance “you have to convince me there’s someone other than Mtl”

Lol if he brings up Horvat in negotiations I would thank him. It’s a ridiculously bad contract for a 50pt player with one above average season.

Larkin has 3-4 seasons at almost PPG pace at 26. When you hit that PLD, come talk to me.

I like the guy but as of now he is a 60-65 pt player. A good top 6 forward but not a franchise player.

Friedman doesn’t stick his beck out and when he does he usually says “I heard from someone” or “I have no insight into but I am looking at Detroit for debrincat”

The way he talks about PLD is not his norm. He seems pretty convinced one way or another he will end up here.

Hopefully Hughes just continues to call their bluff. If he is interested in PLD, he’s in a perfect situation because of where this team is in terms of competing.

Where has Brisson stated anything about $ or teams publicly?

Where did Basu / Godin “specifically hear” it? From fellow The Athletic colleague Ates who “specifically heard” it from Chevaldayoff?
Basu heard it from either Brisson or Chevy or both. They’re both with him at the combine.

My guess though is that it’s coming from Brisson whose trying to get leverage for the Habs to pay his client more.

Do those guys make 9M?

For what’s it’s worth, Marc dumont in his mailbag said the habs are deadly serious about PLD BUT also deadly serious to put his intent to play in Montreal to the test.

They will not sacrifice any piece that they consider important to the young core including draft picks or prospects and if he wants to play here, he will find a way.

I am almost repeating word for word what he said.

That’s the right attitude for HuGo.

Now here’s Florida’s 1st, Kidney, and Dvorak

I've always considered PLD more as a winger.
I see him as top 6 wing or 2/3c. I think the habs will need a bigger name than Suzuki and PLD down the road, like a big time older ufa on a short contract to take the team over the top in a few years.

Making 2 big lines out of
Caufield, Suzuki (Rantanen/ the easter bunny/ emerging ai/ god…) Slaf PLD Dach Leonard Heinemann could be sweet..

Then a checking/possession line and a flawed but high-speed attack line and I’d watch that.

D looks promising as-is I feel.

PLD fits in great, lots of weight, speed and skill on a roster like that.

I think habs and Brisson have a bunch of scenarios worked out for a year now. Hughes sounds like he just wants to keep good relations and they all seem to be playing « PR » to me more than hard-ball negotiating.
