If Dubois is indeed traded here, his salary won't be 9M because he'll have forced his way and will have to make concessions. Kent is not trading significant assets, nor is he signing him to 9+. If PLD really wants to come here, it'll show.

I don't think his salary would necessarily come in below Suzuki's as it's a different situation (buying 7 UFA years), but I'd go as high as 8.25M.

Max trade offer:
Dvorak
Harris
FLA's 1st or Kidney/Mesar/Farrell

Max contract offer:
8 years × 8.25M

Your move, Pierre-Luc!
That's alot

Having an internal cap structure has worked pretty well for the Bruins over the past decade. Hughes has eluded to this model multiple times in interviews since taking the job. Like it or not, this seems to be a core philosophy of his as he rebuilds the team.
Having an internal cap structure doesn't mean better players can't be paid more than Suzuki. The problem here is that Dubois haven't shown to be a better player than Suzuki.

So much chatter......but as I,ve said many, many times in this thread, Winnipeg is not looking for futures or maybes or a package of crappy players put together.

They are looking for a NHLer, a piece that will help their guys like Ehlers, Connor and Morissey move forward, they are not ready to rebuild.

I still think, as I thought months ago, that this deal starts with Anderson
It makes sense for both teams.

I think something like Anderson + Mesar + a mid-prospect or mid-pick is the deal.

He has an 8-team no trade though, and I can see Winnipeg being on it.

To LA for Vilardi +Matt Roy?

Can we beat that?

Writer is just speculating here, but that's a good offer; however like the Rangers Roy isn't enough cap sent to Winnipeg for them to manage the cap this year. They would need to send Iafallo too.
Honestly I have never seen a rumor provide by Arpon Basu that came true.

However, I think this article is from Murat Ates, a Winnipeg writers.
Ates is a Winnipeg writer, yes.

Latest from Athletic: Projecting trade offers for Pierre-Luc Dubois from most likely destinations

Chytil & Schneider for PLD. Ok, but not great. Also, NYR doesn't have the cap space for PLD. Chytil is not nearly enough to send out cap wise. I can't see NYR doing this.

Ranger fans were very adamant about Schneider being untouchable when the Horvat/Miller talks were in swing with the Canucks. While PLD is arguably a better player than Horvat, he isn't better than Miller. I get he's younger but I really can't see the Rangers wanting to give up Schneider.

This does make me think the Jets have demanded Dach as part of the trade if they're trying for Schneider. Thankfully, it sounds like Hughes is saying no.

What do you think of offering Owen Beck as part of a package?

Winnipeg is known for having one of the shittiest dressing rooms in the league before PLD ever. Columbus had dressing room issues too.

Both teams saw their leadership implode.

Once a quitter, always a quitter, that is two teams,

Winners never quit, quitters never win

Does he need one?

Literally Winnipeg ! lol

Worst city in the NHL in a cancer lockeroom. Even the HC decided to resign

He can't cut it on small market teams, no way he would last in Montreal

Ryan O'Reilly quitted on two teams, also held out in Russia for like a month.
Last I checked he had a cup and a Conn Smythe.

But yeah, sure, quitter never win.

“It’s important to note that Cole wanted to be here. It sends a message to others that good players want to play in Montreal.”

Caufield’s salary falls just under what Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki will make over his own eight-year pact. Hughes said it was important that Suzuki remained the highest-paid forward in the organization.”

This is from a CP article earlier this week.
Caufield in his comments confirmed this as well. Sure he could move the goalposts for PLD. I’m not sure that’s the best look for what he’s trying to build here though.

Principles are great as long as upholding them are a mean and not a goal in themselves.

I agree a solid cap structure makes sense.

So what's his excuse in Winnipeg?
