That list of teams is somewhat funny to me. One pundit said that Dubois wanted to play in a big city/big market because he likes the finer things they offers...and they think he wants to move to St-Paul Minnesota?

Even Raleigh and Tampa aren't exactly big cities/market.
I'm not buying any of this, Chevy wants to make it seem like there are more teams interested in hopes that Hughes pays more.

It does sound like that doesn't it? The Jets are trying to create a narrative that there are more options out there for Dubois. But it's all in the "those teams might be interested" sense, not so much what Dubois might want.

And I don't think teams are interested in a $8.5-$9m/aav x 8 years Dubois. Lou called Horvat's contract "too much, too long" and he's the closest comparable to get a contract this season. And Horvat had a much better season before he signed his extension.

Which is a much bigger problem for the Jets, you can't sign&trade if no team manage to negotiate a contract deal to sign.

"Ya there are 42 teams wanting to pay 13 million to PLD so you better give us Dach and Floridas 1st right now before we change our mind!". Teams don't want this prima dona who's requested trades every time he's on a team and is now holding out until he gets traded. Colorado makes sense like I said but I don't see Sakic wanting to deal with the head ache either.

I don't think Colorado has the money. $13m available with only 5 forwards signed for next season...

If Dubois is indeed traded here, his salary won't be 9M because he'll have forced his way and will have to make concessions. Kent is not trading significant assets, nor is he signing him to 9+. If PLD really wants to come here, it'll show.

I don't think his salary would necessarily come in below Suzuki's as it's a different situation (buying 7 UFA years), but I'd go as high as 8.25M.

Max trade offer:
Dvorak
Harris
FLA's 1st or Kidney/Mesar/Farrell

Max contract offer:
8 years × 8.25M

Your move, Pierre-Luc!

I think his AAV will likely be around 8.75 mil. He's going to ask for more than Horvat and I think he'd look elsewhere if he doesn't get it.

thats bad for Winnipeg last thing they need is LD so Harris is useless Dvorak doesnt hold much value and Florida's pick will be 31 or 32 we need to give atleast a descent prospect like Beck

Pretty much the way I see it. However, I'm willing to go up to $500K more than Suzuki, which would be $8.375M. Anything from there and below is a win for me in terms of contract.

I think that's what it will be. If Habs end up using the Florida 1st, because it's a late one, then the prospect they might have to give up will have to be one of their better ones.

The $9M ask is only part of the problem with what Arpon is reporting. He’s also saying that PLD would accept less money from other teams:

Great so go find the contender who is willing to part with roster ready assets and meet the salary demands while you play your second or third fiddle.
Why do I get the sense that the sitting out {if it happens} and the spin surrounding this player can't be very endearing to our management group. :dunno:
It kind of flies in the face of what we heard we are trying to build.

...Kidney...no Beck...

I think everyone here would rather give Kidney over Beck. But personally, I won't hang up the deal because of Beck, even if I'm higher on him than Kidney.

For me, if the Florida 1st is in this deal (which we can agree would most likely be), because it's either 31st or 32nd, then the prospect you give in the deal has to be one of your better ones. Had Florida's pick been the 17th OA, then you can give them one of your lower-tier prospects because the pick is much better.

Anybody have never negotiate something here ?

When you start the negotiation do you ask for the fair price 1st or you try to get more before getting to the number you really want ? Just take the 1st offer we will make to WPG, it's probably not the one that will get it done. Where probably want to put Kidney before Beck in the deal by exemple but it will finish with Beck

It's the same situation here, PLD is asking for more and it will finish at 8-8.5m

There's so much misinformation out there right now.

Friedman and Marek seem to be pretty set on Dubois to Montreal while the Athletic paints a far different picture.
I’d take Friedman and Marek’s word over Basu, both those guys are more plugged in, while Pierre LeBrun has been pretty adamant about PLD to the Habs as well, but who knows?

Montréal is probably Dubois's destination of choices which fit with Friedman/Marek/LeBrun, the Althetic article is about raising his trade and contractual value (out of reach of Montréal because they went too far).
