That would be a huge mistake and would only create additional baggage that might scare off potential suitors.i bet PLD does not report to camp

Exactly this. For clarification: $9M is Basu/Godin’s projection based on said comparables NOT public/private info released from PLD camp

Ofc they are not , we don't neex pure talentThey aren't taking Michkov bro, you need to prepare yourself early.
He probably read this board and said f*** thatIt's a pretty clear sentiment he wants more money from a rebuilding team.. it might not end up being 9 per, but it's still going to cost us more in acquisition cost and money/term than makes sense right now.
PLD and Brisson have just created an enivornment where they won't get to Montreal.
It's fine, it doesn't make sense if you are paying market value for him in the trade AND on the contract.
Carolina can do it. Minnesota can do it.
Didn't they just wasted 5m for 7 years on kakaniemi to be their #2?LOL He'll end up in Carolina. That team is desperate for a second line center not named Staal.
And this boardYeah it really is and it's a been pattern with PLD so maybe it's not such a bad thing to just avoid it all and move on, even if he is a very good player and would be a good add to the Habs. Drama just seems to follow this guy.
KK vv PLDDidn't they just wasted 5m for 7 years on kakaniemi to be their #2?
I seriously don't care if he doesn't come.if he does not come... HF will explode
Yeah I said this earlier this week. He'll probably get between 7.5-8.25 AAV. Habs are mostly paying for his ufa years which are more expensive than Suzuki's and caufield's years in theory but I think they're superior players so it balances out to him getting around the same. A sign and trade then 7.85 x 8 years is fair. The guy should know that since he's a francophone star, he'll be getting all the sponsors and endorsements in QuebecAh yes everybody freaking out now not realizing how negotiations work apparently. Asking 9M does not equal receiving 9M. I think you can reasonably expect him to land in the 7.75-8.25M range when it's all said and done. This news doesn't really change anything imo

Basically, any center can play the wing but usually not vice versa. All 3 of them have experience and capability of playing on the wing.
That change everything !

To MTL: PLD (with 8 year extension at an AAV in between Suzuki and Caufield)
To WPG: Anderson + Dvo + Beck + FLA 1st
Ok, but you have to give to get and there will be other teams making offers....Beck is a dealbreaker, imo...that kid has phenomenal middle-six C written all over him...
Um maybe Florida 1st and Dvorak .If they want more than that he can go somewhere else .Anderson has almost as much value on the trade market by himself and throwing in Beck tooTo MTL: PLD (with 8 year extension at an AAV in between Suzuki and Caufield)
To WPG: Anderson + Dvo + Beck + FLA 1st
The more this plays out, the more it seems he's using MTL for $$ leverage.
The new Basu article basically just says his contract ask for Montreal will be higher than other locations. Arpon says "the sense we get" which sounds like he's been told that.
"For example, he could accept slightly less money to go to a Stanley Cup contender than he would to a rebuilding team like the Canadiens."
Stay strong HuGo. No need to move heaven and earth for him, and no need to pay 9m for him.
