Well Habs are behind Flyers this year, were behind year before so not sure how « we are not that much of a better club than Philly ». They managed 1 more point in the flawed covid season with that weak as f Canadian division.

Hart would have better stats on a better team.

bad trading partners, this is obvious.
Just wanted to be polite with the poster mentioning Hart would be a top 10 goalie here.

I'd rather wait and see if he reaches UFA. And even then, I wouldn't overpay the guy. I'm not a fan at all.

My low ball offer to the Jets considering we are rebuilding and we will wait for Dubois to reach UFA if the price is something we rather not pay.

* Beck
* Habs early 2nd rounder (34-38 range)
* Engstrom
* Gurianov

Comparing to the Trouba trade:
* Beck vs Rangers 1st (20th pick)
* Habs 2nd rounder and Engstrom vs Pionk
* Bonus: NHL contract and someone who still has potential at age 25 (Gurianov)
Why not? Maybe that's the real price now.

Wow, if Friedman actually said that 95% thing then that's huge.

If they swing a trade for him at the draft then you'd have to imagine that we'll be drafting a defenseman or winger with our 1st pick. I don't see us taking a center when we'll have Suzuki, PLD and Dach as viable top 6 centers.

Been let down so many times before that even 95% doesn't even make me flinch anymore.

It's basically a matter of when and what's the compensation.. but if you are talking about 95% sure he's coming here, whether it is next year or as a UFA.. the Jets don't have leverage to ask for more than the Trouba deal.
If this is true Chevy may want to get the max out of him before flipping him because he'll get far more value that way.

The question then becomes

Florida's pick in a supposed good year, or Calgary/Florida's other pick + ?

Yeah I dont think we'll get a bargain and alternatively dont think the Jets will get close to what they actually want. I think both teams can get the job done because the Habs (if everything on Dubois's side is true again coming here hell or high water), are the only team that will offer a non rental type of deal.

If it's inevitable that Dubois is leaving, I think WPG would be better off holding onto him and trying to compete again one last time next year -- if they struggle they can sell him at the TDL.

That'd be a terrible move by them imo.

The Jets winning the cup next year is a long shot, and losing him for nothing when they have the chance to flip him for prospects/picks that could play a major role in the organization for years to come seems like the Gaudreau situation all over.

That's the problem.

The team acquiring him is pretty much certain he isn't going to sign there.

He's quit on teams before to change scenery. What if he goes to the new team after paying a hefty fee just for him to be uninterested because he wants the off season to come to sign here ?

I have to imagine Jets want to deal him now and will look at how their team does to determine their next course of action.

They're struggling. If they get beat handedly in the playoffs I think they rebuild. That's also if they even make them.

People can't forget that a lot of their top players are UFA after next season and the way things are going they're not going to re-sign.

If you really want PLD you trade for him and sign him as an RFA. If he's genuinely in the plans it wouldn't be smart risking him going to market, being traded before then or even signing multiple years with Winnipeg which is ultimately a possibility

If he's not apart of concrete plans let it ride sure
