I’m all for signing him but each red flag reduces his Annual average salary by at least a million.

Did you see the previous 4 games ? he was the best Jets player. Come on ! It's an easy argument that you can turn in any directions to fit your narrative, as i just did.Do you really think points are everything? Did you watch Game 5?
The coach's brutally honest post-game comments hold much more weight.

Wow, what praise!!! Give you 3 guesses who his agent is, and the first two don't count.Jonathan Marchessault on playing against PLD in the first round:

The former Quebec Remparts also admits not understanding the criticism of Pierre-Luc Dubois in Winnipeg.
“I think Pierre-Luc Dubois was their best player on the ice, every night. He worked hard and was physically involved. Honestly, I only have good words to say about him. I think he was their most dangerous and complete player. I think he could have had more help from the other teammates.

It's actually very easy to understand, he wants out and so naturally fans will turn on him to help them feel better about losing him. It's the equivalent of "You can't quit because your fired."Jonathan Marchessault on playing against PLD in the first round:

Great post and great profile pic wow! lmfaoExactly lol.
The money angle makes 0 sense in regards to the PLD situation. If anything it's quite the contrary.
First, like you said, he accepted his QO. He could have got at least 1-2 millions easily from Winnipeg. It was said that he accepted his QO so he would be easier to trade. Doesn't strike as someone who puts money over everything.
And then, during his presser with the Winnipeg medias, following that signing, he said that for him it's important to be happy where you are and look into the future, where your life will be etc...
what exactly are you saying.Wow, what praise!!! Give you 3 guesses who his agent is, and the first two don't count.
134 pages for a player that is not part of the Habs...This might be one of the craziest threads in Hfboards history. We are now doing a deep dive into tax rates, tax treaties, etc. Fascinating yet enlightening.
Man.......................we are passionate!! And a little crazy eh.134 pages for a player that is not part of the Habs...![]()
Common Marchesseault doesn't believe any of that, clearly his agent asked him to promote his other french client to the press just to get a better paycheck and street cred on HF.Jonathan Marchessault on playing against PLD in the first round:

I think you forgot that Dubois was traded from Columbus to Winnipeg over two years ago. He doesn't live in the US.Fiscale question… dont know if anyone here has the answer but here goes:
Let’s say Dubois signs with MTL on July 3rd. Maybe the deal was ready before, doesn’t matter.
So MTL gives him a signing bonus of, let’s say, 7M.
Dubois doesn’t sell his house for, let’s say, another 2 months.
So… since he still lives in the US when the deal is signed and since he has stayed outside of Canada for more then 6 months in the current fiscal year (deal signed after July 1st), can he pay his taxes in the US for the first year of his contract?
PLDs wife / significant other is an American from Michigan, and they spend most of their offseason at their residence in Fla near Huberdeau.I think you forgot that Dubois was traded from Columbus to Winnipeg over two years ago. He doesn't live in the US.
PLD was even worse in Game 4 than he was in Game 5 and that's saying a lot. He had a strong game 1 (2 points) but then went minus-7 from Games 2-5.Did you see the previous 4 games ? he was the best Jets player. Come on ! I never put too much value to the " one or few games " sampler.

Dubois is actually good though, laffreniere is more like a third liner who can chip in 5 on 5 , Dubois is a legit top 6 player in the league.I would prefer a reclamation project in Lafreniere. I am not a fan of PLD. I hope the Habs pass on him.
I prefer Lafreniere. I feel there is more upside there. He's younger and his contract situation is more in the Habs control if they trade for him now. I don't feel there's any upside with Dubois - he's 25 and I see more downside to upside in acquiring him.Dubois is actually good though, laffreniere is more like a third liner who can chip in 5 on 5 , Dubois is a legit top 6 player in the league
Whenever I watch Lafreniere play I just don't see the upside he does nothing well and everything ok. He also bobbles alot of pucks and really doesn't show a whole lot of skill when puck handling. Maybe it's a confidence issue or development issue but he legit plays like a third liner you could never tell this guy went 1st overall if you removed the name from his jersey.I prefer Lafreniere. Adrian Kempe was drafted in 2014 (3-spots after Scherbak), and only last season (21-22) did his performance break outYou want Lafreniere after the gutless playoff performance he had?
Imagine lambasting a "role" player under Gallant for not producing as a star? Kinda like what CHI did with Dach. You want Lafreniere after the gutless playoff performance he had?
