Do you know what the date is that Dubois's current contract expires? That's the date his agent can come out and publicly talk about interest in other teams like Montreal, as he did last year. Because technically he'll be a free agent, even if a restricted free agent.
The same date as every NHL player, and the window to bring a player to arbitration is before he's allowed to receive/accept offers.

Lol Dach is going to make less than half of what PLD makes and may even be a better player. I don't blame the Jets for asking for him and leaking rumors to insiders on how other teams are interested, but that isn't happening. In addition to PLD's contract, we need to consider that we are giving up assets for him and that prospects like Roy and Mesar won't have the chance to play in the top 6 since we would have PLD/Suzuki/CC/Dach/Slaf/2023 1st occupying the top 6.

the dach dubois thing sounds more like,

Hrudey " well mtl should trade dach for dubois" from the WPG perspective and Friedmann "if it was that easy it'dbe done" .

Sounds like our management isn't overpaying at all for dubois and will wait it out if he becomes a fa

assuming the 2023 1st is a forward and not reinbacher

Chevy has to pretend he has leverage, because they couldn’t give Wheeler away last year and Sheif is a head case. If they want to rebuild, PLD is their most valuable asset, as little as it is at the moment. Trading PLD for Dvorak and scraps won’t be a good look for him.
He can pretend all he wants but GMs aren't dumb, if he's traded this offseason it will be to the team who offers him the best deal as a 1 year rental, even if an extension is in place. There's no reason for us to offer more than the best package for 1 year of PLD.

Why is it that I get the sense Chevaldayoff is going to bolt to become GM elsewhere….
With Poile retiring, Amstrong (St. Blues) and him have been the longest GM of the same team. I really wonder how he manage to keep his seat with the Jets considering his track record with the team...

It’s actually pretty impressive given very few players want to play in Winter-peg

Absolutely. Not trading Barron from a position of weakness. Hutson and Mailloux won't be ready next season. Team building which is what HuGo uses to describe their mandate is about filling holes no blowing out new ones.
Is Barron only brought up because they have his brother?

I wouldn't blame the Jets for asking for Dach back in any potential PLD trade but that would be a huge no from me and I don't think Hughes would trade Dach for PLD at this point either.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the Romy for Dach trade at first but what I saw from Dach for about a month or so before he got injured the first time really won me over on this guy. Not sure what clicked for him but he was dominating some shifts during that stretch with his size and skill and his physical play really ramped up then as well. Seeing him run right over Clutterbuck like Clutterbuck was some 140lbs player was one of my favorite Habs moments from last season.

Just beautiful.

And then there was this hit putting Gudas on his ass.

Curvy Duck must stay.

Dumont also wrote an article on MHN about this today.

Dubois was so bad in these playoffs. All Jets fans want him gone asap.

We aint overpaying.

Umm... He may want to play for his hometown team and that is nice and all, but do we need him on this team?

I didn't watch the entire Jets - Knights series but what I did see, I was not impressed?
Curious to read how our fanbase with no horse in the game thought of PLD?

I would not give a 1st for him this year, patience; if he wants to be a Hab let him sign a one year deal or get traded for still take a one year deal... his trade value is very low right now, but we could get him for nothing in the summer of 2024.

The context here is that Montreal won’t give Dach up. That the price is lower than expected because of the situation.

Friedman and Marek also heavily implying that if another team acquired PLD, they know it’s for one-year. The writing seems to be on the wall that at the very least he’s going to test free agency.

That's the question Hughes will need answered before any trade. Maybe he just wants to go to July 1st and have his choice, with Montreal being an option but not the only option.

Lots of players want to test what's out there even if they have a city in mind. Just go to UFA and get wooed.

We're not a team that should trade for him as a one year rental. He needs to sign long term. Maybe he doesn't want that.
